Re: Definition of "Arousals" in the overnight study?

I had a sleep study with my resmed on a few weeks ago, just to see how is my sleep quality with the respiratory machine. i didn't go to fetch the results, my mother went to the doctor for my result instead, and told me the doctor said my sleep quality was good, and it's convenient that i go on using...

apap or cpap, which mode is better?

i wrote this thread just to ask about the benefits and disavantages of xpap, i've been on resmed for 3 weeks, and been in this forum for 2 weeks, from what i've learned, cpap doesn't disturb much your sleep, because the pressure is always invariable, while apap, though it covers a range of pressures...

Re: cpap and dreams

iricoboy Dreams are good if you can remember them - just because they provide some depth to sleep. Makes you feel like you had a good sleep. But, I don't believe it is a problem to not recall dreams. Foe me, it happens sometimes and not others. Some of it seems to do with what I ate the night befor...

cpap and dreams

yesterday i read a thread titled "dreams", and i found i really have had nearly the same experiences with what has been described in that thread:http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t40290/Dreams.html before xpap, i've been unable to remember any dreams for many yrs, and after treatment, i started to r...

Re: Dreams

Once again, I must be missing something. I've spoken at length with my RT and SC about dreaming and both said that remembering my dreams, or even that I had dreamt at all, meant that I was waking during REM, thus cutting short a full sleep cycle, and that's not a good thing. They both said that ide...

Re: Dreams

Re: I'm Flying blind: about pressure, the higher the better?

<snip>for the second possible reason: i think it has responded, i heard the machine working harder, or maybe the highest pressure 18cm is not enough to save me from that apnea? Because everything is possible, it would be best to relay the way you felt and the results you had when the minimum pressu...

Re: I'm Flying blind: about pressure, the higher the better?

One possibility is Brenda's reason: when your pressure is too high, you brain can get confused by that, and not instruct you to breathe again after you've exhaled. This is called a pressure induced or central apnea. A second possible reason is that the Resmed behaves differently when the pressure i...

Re: I'm Flying blind: about pressure, the higher the better?

Too high a pressure could cause centrals. What was your titrated pressure? Do you know what your 95% pressure is? You want the pressure to be just enough to splint the airway open, making it too high has no benefit. Brenda yes,i think u r totally right, i took a nap today in the noon, and just felt...

Re: sharing my story for advice:how to select the right pressure

i wanna know if i use autoset mode, and manually set a range between minimun and maximum pressure, for example, in autoset mode, i would set 9-20, does that mean, the machine will ajust automatically between 9-20cmH20 according to my breathing? is it right? Yes, you are correct. 8 - 20, 9 - 20, 10 ...

Re: sharing my story for advice:how to select the right pressure

Don't go off blood pressure pills without talking to a doctor, or at least without seeing that your blood pressure measures normal. High blood pressure is not something you feel. And feeling better on APAP therapy is not a promise that your blood pressure in normal now. Its wonderful that you feel ...

Re: sharing my story for advice:how to select the right pressure

I started at a setting of 9 because that was was the former user had it set on since I was treating myself without any sleep study. From my research and other family members using CPAP machines I knew 9 was not that high. Then I raised it by 1 until all snoring stopped. 11 took care of it most of t...
