Re: Switching insurance while in maint. phase restarts rental?!?
The dominoes finally fell into place with the people I talked to at CareCentrix and Apria. The last time I talked to Apria on my own they claimed that CareCentrix handled all billing for them when dealing with Cigna, so there were no bills/claims for them to review. Today the rep at CareCentrix star...

Re: Switching insurance while in maint. phase restarts rental?!?
Little did I know when we moved to Cigna that my FSA with them defaulted to "Auto Pay" for claims. Lesson learned. I'll be doing manual reimbursements in the future. Apria drove me crazy when I was with Aetna because I could never understand what I was being billed for when I got my first and second...

Switching insurance while in maint. phase restarts rental?!?
Hello, I've been a hose head for 9 years now and just recently switched insurance companies for the first time and the lack of billing transparency is driving me nuts. I got a new CPAP with my old Aetna insurance through Apria in August of 2014. I've since found out that Aetna does a 10 month rental...

No more napping on the couch
Just wanted to share an interesting experience I had a few weeks ago when I fell asleep on the couch (without CPAP). The best I can figure is I had an episode in the middle of REM which resulted in sleep paralysis. I woke up laying on my side unable to breathe but I couldn't move a lick. My wife was...

Re: No memory of taking off mask
I had a very similar experience when I first started CPAP last March. For the first few days things were fine and then for no good reason I started taking the mask off in the middle of the night. It took me about 1.5 - 2 weeks to phase out of that habit, but I'm over 10 months in now and haven't had...

Re: New and already getting discouraged
Ok, I told myself I wasn't going to be one of the complainers, but here I am. I started my CPAP therapy last Wednesday the 6th. I thought everything was going fine, and even over the weekend I felt better, wasn't as grumpy, even caught myself laughing a couple of times. Now, for the 2nd night in a ...

Can pressure be too high?
For the past several weeks I have had A.I.s of less than 1 (typically 0.0 - 0.1) and A.H.I.s of less than 5. I have lost 25lbs. since I had my split-night study and am wondering if I should consider lowering my pressure? Can having a pressure that is too high reduce the effectiveness of CPAP, or is ...

Re: Activa LT Mask- Query Noise from Vent holes
My Active LT used to do that and I found that it was caused by condensation forming inside the vent holes. It was always the worst when I turned on warmup 15-30 minutes before I went to bed. I ended up having to turn my humidifier way down because of rainout, so I haven't had that problem lately.

Re: Bear's CPAP thread
Heh, thanks for fueling the fire guys. Now I'm gonna tell her that there's some other woman "offering" to make one for me and it's supposedly superior to anything out there . She'll probably sew so much fleece around that hose that it'll pull me right off the bed. On another note, I broke in the CMS...

Re: Bear's CPAP thread
Finally got a true full night's rest on the machine last night . Had to fight the urge to get up at 5am (which I never, ever do) because I felt fully rested after 7:45 hours. Hopefully I can talk the wife into making me that hose cover this weekend because the condensation in my mask is killing me, ...

Just can't seem to get back above that 7:00 mark . I was well on my way to breaking it, but cluster headaches dragged me out of bed for a couple of hours. CMS-50E Pulse Oximeter Spring Sale ($140)!!!
All, I just purchased a pulse oximeter from Southeastern Medical Supply, Inc. and noticed that they have a "Spring Sale" on the CMS-50E. Reading reviews in previous posts, I noticed that many folks on here paid as much as $200 for the unit, so it's at a significant markdown. As for myself, I went wi...
