Faking out cpap

I've been having wildly changing ahi's (mostly all hi's) at the same pressure so I did an experiment with my Intellipap. First I sat watching tv with cpap running for about an hour and the machine reported no events. Then I sat watching tv for another hour frequently adjusting the mask for leaks (as...

Re: New: Help! Too many ahi's

. I would let the machine try to diagnose my pressure, starting at the lowest bearable minimum - and letting it have its head up to 20. Re: New: Help! Too many ahi's

So now I have the quattro mask and it really helps with the leaks. The only problem is it doesn't lower the ahi's (about 15-20 per hour) at any pressure. What do I do now?

Re: New: Help! Too many ahi's

Well, I got the hybrid mask and my leak rate soared into the 80's. Not to mention my nostrils are severely traumatized now. Whoa is me. I am soooo tired but I can't sleep!

Re: New to CPAP, my initial problems, any ideas?

3) When I am partially awake I am catching myself not breathing. The CPAP should be holding my airway open and I can feel the pressure, it's like I'm holding my breath and then jolting and gasping for air. This is a bit unnerving to me. I don't know why this would be happening and I plan on asking ...

Re: New: Help! Too many ahi's

Yes I have had a dry mouth. I think I'll try taping my mouth first and see if that does anything. Thanks for your help by the way.

Re: New: Help! Too many ahi's

I haven't noticed any air coming from where the mask meets my face. Could I be breathing through my mouth when I'm sleeping?
