I've always used 1 part vinegar to 3 parts warm water and let it all soak for atleast a hour. Then a very good rinse. I haven't had any problems with it.
Since I got a new mask I use clear natural dish soap. I think it's dove but I'm not sure.
I soak everything for an hour and rinse and dry well.

I have one and wear it. I've been told by EMT's and Doctors that if your wearing a wrist bracelet or one around your neck, then they'll read it first before they do anything. They won't look in your wallet until later if at all. If your wearing something, then it's important enough for them to know....

I wash out my reusable filter every weekend. Just like other reusable filters, why change it if it still works?

Well, I'd have to do it just because I'd know exactly how I'd want it.

Rainout isn't always obvious and can appear as if it's condensation. You might try a double cover over your hose to see if that makes any difference (or route the hose under the bed covers).
