Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
I just got a return call from the sleep center, and it turns out I did have one CSA event. That really concerns me that my brain isn't telling my body to breathe. I want to read more about CSA, but she said that I'm worrying too much over one CSA event. Yes, I'm a worry-wort, but... Help! I'm freaki...

Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
Yup. Looks like severe sleep apnea to me. Why mention of a cardiologist? Are you having any heart issues that need to be checked out? Being that I have panic disorder/anxiety issues, my mind immediately went to, "Maybe the apnea I've had so far has damaged my heart?", because of all the stuff I've ...

Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
Just got a call... it's official: I have severe sleep apnea. I thought maybe since I don't snore very loud or often, that it would be mild or moderate. I'm just really upset about it and scared to death. My father had apnea and died in 2001, albeit from complications of diabetes. Since I'm fairly yo...

Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
rooster, I definitely noticed that I had the "puff of air" come out my mouth a few times during the study, but I did manage to keep my mouth closed most of the time. What a horribly unpleasant feeling that is when you open your mouth! Hopefully, the DME will allow me to try on a few masks to see whi...

Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
Turns out my insurance is contracted with: Apria Metromed Lifecare Solutions However, the person at my medical group was under the impression that I would have to wait and see which DME my doctor uses, if any. I thought I could choose my own DME? APAP, CPAP, C-Flex, A-Flex, full mask, nasal mask, na...

Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
GumbyCT,
Ever since my sleep study, I have been going through all that information, and yes--it's a lot of information!
There are a few links in there I haven't seen yet. Thanks!

Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
Your doc CANNOT specify what DME you use. That is your choice. Your insurance company CAN specify what DME they will cover. They can give you a list. nomoore , I called my insurance company this morning before I read the stuff in the Wisdom section, and she vaguely mentioned something about getting...

Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
I'm blown away by the support on here already! Seriously! Thanks for the clarification Hawthorne and rooster . I've just read the Our Collective Wisdom > Selecting Where To Purchase Your CPAP Equipment and the Our Collective Wisdom > Selecting Your CPAP Equipment sections. There's a LOT to do to get...

Re: Kenny's CPAP Thread
I am so happy and grateful for all your responses! I will definitely take all of your advice into account. Would this be the sleep doctor or my primary care physician that would be writing the prescription? I didn't even know you could rent a CPAP machine, I just thought you had to pay for one that ...

Re: Mouth taping logic ??
I'm new to all this, but would a full face mask be ideal for someone who has trouble breathing through their nose? Perhaps, I'm misunderstanding the function of the full face mask...

Kenny's CPAP Thread
Hi everyone! My name is Kenny, and I'm a newbie to the forum. This post will be my thread for updates on my own status. I am a member of another forum for pets where they like to keep everything for that pet in one thread. So, I figured, "Why not do it here?" First, let me just say I also have panic...
