I too do not thing Sleep Apnea kills. What is causes kills. Reggie White died of congestive heart failure (two days before my sleep test). It is hard on your body not to sleep well.

Double Edge PAPillow

I bought a Double Edge PAPillow and I really like it. But even with the sheet fan (also purchased at CPAP.com). But in every picture, there is no sheet. Hmmm ... sweating with no sheet. That does not seem sanitary. Now I know the pillow can be washed, but how often do you want to do that? Plus sheet...

Re: Insomnia, where do I begin to overcome it?

BTW, O. is a she. And you will find, as I have, that she very much knows of that which she speaks, in all related matters and beyond. It isn't just her education that shines through, though--it's her kindness, her humility, her spirit of cooperation, and her love of people. Duh, a bright pink F in ...

Would Gas-X help, you think? My minimum pressure is 18 - 20. I sleep with a lot of air coming at me. Sleep Apnea is highly correlated to diabetes. I have both and therefore a ton of gas. Gas-X has helped me. I only take it on the worst of days as I do not want to become dependent on yet another sub...

Ativan is a benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepines's can cause fatigue when used long term. Ativan's half life is 10-20 hours (Half-life: time taken for blood concentration to fall to half its peak value after a single dose. ... This time may vary considerably between individuals.) -- which means you may ...

Re: How do DME's work? (Is that an oxymoron?)

That is why CPAP.com does not take insurance and simply tells you that it is cheaper in the long run to buy it. And it is (maybe not under Medicare). I bought my machine after my sleep study from my sleep doc's "store". Cost me a fortune and the insurance paid only about 1/4 of the costs. Never agai...

Re: Insomnia, where do I begin to overcome it?

Well, I would like two address two things. As a Psychologist I can tell you that anxiety and depression (and if you put them together for the most part they are indications of BiPolar Disorder) can affect your sleep. The suggestions I am going to recommend work well if normal sleep meds do not. Firs...

Re: Newbie question about buying from the internet

I bought my original equipment at the store owned by my sleep doc. He must vacation well. They charged me 2 to 3 times the prices that CPAP.com has. You are kind of on your own buying via the internet. But my new ResMes mask came with a DVD which was much more helpful than the lady/clerk working at ...

Re: Resmed & Authorized Internet Retailers

All of this is such a joke. I can't wait until the manufacturers just start selling directly to end-users. What possible "service" can these internet stores give that the manufacturer can't? The biggest thing is several brands. Do you really want to log in to every manufacturer and check prices, av...

The only way I could see this work is for a damaged section that was short. Swallow and just feel how many muscles are at work. And when the do not work in order precisely, you can get hiccups (although theories on hiccups do vary from pure physical to psychosomatic). And what insurance company woul...

Re: eBay strikes again for unknown reason...

There are several things that will get you auction booted. But eBay wants to stay in business and buying PayPal was smart since everyone was using it anyway. Most "boots" are initiated by customers -- and often competitors. I had one of my auctions pulled because I linked to the home page of the com...

... My Dr. actually said that I would be hooked up to oxygen and a bell would ring if I stopped breathing. I told him that I preferred NOT to stop breathing in the first place. He/ they don't seem to understand that you need it after the oxygen comes out anyway. They just don't get it. I found the ...

Certainly no avoiding the subject(s). I have been on my machine for five years. I get more gas, some bloating. and have flatulence beyond my fair share. Like many with sleep apnea, I have diabetes also. This combination makes church tough. If I eat early, by noon I will run low on blood sugar. If I ...

Re: SEVERE SLEEP APNEA?

I agree. I was in the hospital for a breathing problem. Before they would let me sleep they asked my wife to get my CPAP. But I told the nurse I used one. During my sleep test they turned up to 20 and they STILL couldn't get me to quit "stop breathing". My CPAP can be no lower than 14 and right now ...
