am I screwed?
lost my job and now need to purchase my cpap. I contacted my DME a while ago and said my job might be ending and what I could do about it. I tried to purchase my machine then and there, but they said since insurance was renting it, they couldn't let me purchase. the crappy thing is that had I kept m...

how much more can I wear on my head at night
I wear a quattro, and Karen from PAC made an awesome eye mask that works with my mask and helps with leaks around my nose. I also wear a chin strap because my jaw slacks open and I lose my therapy. As a side result from the chin strap, I catch myself grinding my teeth, so I've taken to wearing a mou...

can a chin strap really stop osa?
Just came across an interesting article about a chin strap helping with osa. Someone else may have come across the same article, so I apologize if this is a double post. http://www.aralifestyle.com/article.aspx?UserFeedGuid=904bf890-db23-4551-95d2-1f5aa83e9e6a&ArticleId=1893&ComboId=2442&title=Are-Y...

anyone ever try hypnosis?
Anyone ever try hypnosis for anything? Sleeping better, anxiety, quit smoking, losing weight, etc.
Just wondering about people's experiences.

Re: FF mask help please
I tried the zzz ff mask and didn't like it. The exhaust ports made it sound like there was a freight train coming at me, so I switched back to my quattro. I have a pressure of 12. Just my experience.

Re: HELP: Itchy Nose
I use a quattro and have the same problem. There are a few things that have helped me. After I rinse my face and dry before going to bed, just before I put my mask on, I scratch my nose all over. Misdirection also sometimes works. If my nose itches, I will bite my tongue or cheek a bit until I can f...

anti-anxiety questions
For those on anti-anxiety medications, which do you fine to be the most effective with the least amount of side effects? I'm taking buspirone, but hate the side effects (dizziness, headaches, etc). I originally asked my doctor for Celexa, but my doctor was adamant in saying that was an antidepressan...

Re: can anxiety ruin your therapy?
[quote="Uncle_BobWhen you say back sliding what do you mean? Are your numbers get worse? or you just feeling worse in general?[/quote] Feeling worse in general. There was a little bit of time after my first week's success that I tried a different mask, but I've since gone back to the quattro and hav...

Re: whats going on..
not to go against the grain of popular opinion, but the last few nights, all I've done was rinse my face instead of using soap and water, and I've had the best fit I've ever had without leaks.

can anxiety ruin your therapy?
I have another thread on here about doing well initially on cpap and then back sliding since. I'm wondering if anxiety has anything to do with it. I'm back at work today, and I've only been here a few hours, but I'm ready to leave. I'm trying very hard to curb my anxiety. Initially when I started cp...

Re: why did I do so well in the beginning?
I switched masks about two weeks in. i started out with the quattro, but the forehead posts bother a nerve in my forehead, and are hell to get to sleep with. I think I may just have to suck it up and use the quattro. It seems like I did the best with it. The liberty is great for getting to sleep, bu...

Re: why did I do so well in the beginning?
My AHI is usually under 5. My leak rate hovers around .20L/s. Some days it's good, and some days it's bad.

why did I do so well in the beginning?
Two weeks ago, I was feeling great. I felt like my old self again. Now some of my symptoms are back. What happened? I'm discouraged and frustrated.

Re: was doing so well, are relapses common
Do you have facial hair (beard, goatee, etc.?) Do you have your mask selector in the machine set for the proper setting? Trying to use the wrong size or wearing a mask too tight can also cause serious leaking, too. Den I have a mustache and goatee that I've trimmed to fit in the mask (quattro). The...

Re: was doing so well, are relapses common
According to your profile, you have a data-capable machine. If you're getting the results in your LCD screen.....what do your "numbers" tell you? Den My AHI, AI and HI have all been under 5, usually 2.6 or less, but my leak rate has been all over the place. My worse with the liberty was 1.46 L/s, m...
