Somnomed Succeeded as Alternative to CPAP
While the CPAP certainly helped me feel and look better, I am very happy that a PSG confirmed that the Somnomed mandibular advancement device with a setting of 4.2 mm of jaw advancement will allow me to stop using the CPAP machine.

Airline Power Port + CPAP
Do I need any special adaptor power port cord for airline travel that did not come with my Respironics M Series Pro? Is this different from the cord that is needed to connect the Respironics to a battery?

Runny Nose with CPAP
The Respironics instruction booklet mentions runny nose as a possible side effect of the air flow from CPAP. I had a cold for a week and I've continued to have a runny nose for 2 weeks after that, but only from one side of the nose and the discharge is clear. I have been told I have vasomotor rhinit...

Re: Any Full Face Masks Better for Nose Bridge?
Are you SURE your Hybrid can't be adjusted more to suit your needs, ericlhyman? I'm not being critical... it's just that I have the Hybrid as a backup for nasal congestion times and found it took more work to get it adjusted than my regular mask, but once I got everything adjusted right, the seal h...

Singing for Snorers Exercises
Has anybody tried this British CD set of singing exercises? http://www.singingforsnorers.com/faq.htm It is vital in singing to have good muscle control over the soft palate and upper throat. These are the very 'pharyngeal' muscles which, when lacking in tone, can cause snoring. Singers use singing e...

If loosening the straps is not enough, also try the Snugglehose soft strap covers.

Any Full Face Masks Better for Nose Bridge?
Are there any full face masks that are relatively less irritating to the nasal bridge? My trial with the Hybrid Mask did not work out because the pillows kept popping out and my AHI numbers increased as a result.

Re: Time to order a new mask should I try nasal pillows?
I much prefer the Innomed Hybrid over the ComfortGel Full Face Mask I started with. I have not had nostril irritation, possibly because the Hybrid comes with 3 sizes of nasal pillows to get the right fit. I cut the plastic tab between the 2 nasal pillows to get a better angle of insertion. The only ...

Re: Hybrid Mask Connection Problem
It turns out that a piece from the Comfort Gel mask was tightly lodged in the Respironics hose. Once that was removed, the Hybrid tubing fit in.

Heated Humidifiers All Year
I just started CPAPing and am using a heated humidifier now in the winter (Washington, DC area). Will I need to use this all year long or only when home heating is needed?

Hybrid Mask Connection Problem
I just received a Hybrid Mask, which the DME mailed to me, as a replacement for the Comfort Gel FF that was irritating my nose bridge. The hybrid mask does not seem to connect to the tubing that came with my Respironics M Pro. I tried taking the swivel tube off the end of the Hybrid Mask and reversi...

Re: Mask Irritating Bridge of Nose
Update: DME told me to adjust the nose bridge setting on the "ComfortGel FF" from the one that their own tech had set for me. When I did, there was so much noise from air leaks that I had to return to the original nose bridge setting (I'm a side sleeper). I then put some vitamin E on the nose bridge...

Mask Irritating Bridge of Nose
After the first night of CPAP with the Respironics Comfort Gel full face mask, the bridge of my nose has remained red and irritated all day. The DME fitted the mask for me. There are no other areas where the mask is giving me trouble. What adjustment to the mask would fix this? Is it too tight or am...
