Re: TV in Bedroom Poll
I HATE the TV in the bedroom. Thing is my wife, or as I call her, my girlfriend of the last 41 years, CANNOT sleep without it. I've suggested that I take up sleeping in the guest room, but that suggestion was received coldly. I do watch some TV (in the living room), and when I do I'm paying attentio...

Re: I got my new equipment at last/stuck hose
Thanks all for your suggestions. I got it out though with careful use of a semi-dull table knife. iT was the hose that they gave me at the sleep study and it was a real cheapie. Sure, I could've used another hose, but I just put on a Snuggle Hose cover on it so that I can use more heat with the humi...

I got my new equipment at last/stuck hose
After all the horror stories about DME's I went in spoiling for a fight. What I found was a very pleasant, charming and, dare I say, pretty darn cute young lady who was extremely thorough, and was very pleased that I was so well informed. Fortunately, my wife's insurance plan (Horizon Blue Cross Blu...

Re: OK I slept pretty well last night
I take my UMFF into the shower with me in the am. I use a castile liquid soap on the mask and on me, but I think that Dr. Bonner's would be better for the mask. What I use has peppermint extract in it. I also have been swabbing down with Sea Breeze. It seems to make a big difference. Even after over...

Re: which mask now, sleepy in Michigan
I got a Travel Buddy - it was cheaper than the Hose Buddy - yesterday and it rocks. Allows turning and the hose does not get in the way at all. Only thing is you have to remove the mask while lying down, which I've never done. I could make the hose that comes to me longer, but that would defeat the ...

Re: Waking up in a lake
Hmmm... I received a Snuggle Hose yesterday and I've just put it on my hose. I'm about 2 on my humidifier and only had a probelm when I discovered the control [it's in the back and I never looked] and cranked it up all the way. The result was more of like ocean than a lake . I'm going to try the hal...

Re: Leaky mask driving me nuts
Of course there's always a possibility that it's just not the right mask for me, but something tells me I just don't know how to adjust it properly. If it does turn out to be the wrong one, how do you go about finding the right one? I bought the return insurance, but it seems like there has to be a ...

Re: Which are the better full-face masks?
Jason - Everybody's right... we all have different faces and the only 'best' is what's best for you. I've been using an ResMed Ultra Mirage standard medium for many years. Works for me but I'd like to try the Liberty. I'm going to see the DME on Friday and I'll ask if I can get one of those... I hav...

Re: Drying the hose?
I used to not be so ...ahem... meticulous (read: "fussy") about cleaning, but after two serious bouts of pneumonia, I stay as far from potential infections as I can. Kids come home with the sniffles? "I luv ya, babe, but I'll be up in my room. Feel free to open a can of Spaghettio's if you get hung...

Re: Version 2 of PAPer Bill of Rights
PAPer Bill of Rights (excerpted from SleepGuide.com -- http://www.sleepguide.com/profiles/blogs/paper-bill-of-rights-version) VERY WELL SAID! I'm going to meet with the DME at my Dr's office this Friday and in addition to arming myself with all the info I have acquired here I will print out the bill...

Re: Cool Air
Good Morning. My latest issue is the cool air blowing into my mask when I first turn my machine on and am trying to fall asleep. I think warm air would be much more conducive to sleep. I have a resmed hose cover but it was for the 6 ft hose I had at the time and now I have a 10 foot hose. I know th...

Re: many questions
I use an Ultra Mirage ff standard medium and I've had the same issue. For me it was resolved by a balance of tension and positioning. The top of the headgear stays put right at the point where my head begins to curve upwards. I found this by trial and error. Of course, since everyone's head is diffe...

Re: Slept w/o humidifier
I know what you mean. My GoodKnight 420G broke down last August, so I dragged out my old ResMed Sullivan V and used it w/o humidity. Then I had a sleep study and they had, what appeared to me, a Fischer Paykel standalone humidifier attached with a short hose. I was SOOOO ignorant about equipment unt...

OK, the non-washers have me convinced! It is a 10 foot hose after all.
