Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
I'm coming up on 2 years. I have literally laid down ONE time without my CPAP and that was for a nap in Las Vegas. It's difficult going in the beginning, but it's worth it. It's all about commitment. I use a chin strap so I can use nasal pillows because I need to sleep on my side. To be honest, if t...

Re: Should I cancel my titration?
Just a quick question on something I have noticed. Why do so many people opt for a full face mask right off the bat.. I can understand the full face mask if you can't keep your mouth closed or it opens alot when you fall asleep, or if your preasure is so high that you cannot get a really good seal ...

This report is about a company that maintains a website on how to do DIY repairs to things Must admit have *not* pulled my iPhone to bits yet & don't really plan to Still haven't pulled the Vpap Adapt SV to bits but did disassemble the Bipap Auto SV. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/09/teardown-...

Re: Testament for weight loss and exercise to improve OSA
I am starting a local weight loss competition today! So good to hear that weight loss can lead to some improvement. I have no hope of a "cure" My OSA was around back when I was seriously underweight and has continued till today. But a decrease in pressure and in AHI would be fantastic! I know I was...

Re: Testament for weight loss and exercise to improve OSA
Hi, long time no post. Just wanted to point out I had a similar improvement going from a little over 3 to under 1 AHI when I dropped from 200 to 185 lbs. It makes sense that if you have less fat tissue in/around the throat area your machine can give you more effective therapy. OT: Hit my one year ma...

Re: Attn: All Chin strap users
My pressure recently changed from 8 to 14. At that pressure, even with a chin strap, I blow air out between my lips. So I now require a full face mask. Really sad, 'cause I loved my Activia mask, and I'm REALLY fighting the masks. You don't have to give up your Activa!! Just place 4 inch piece of 2...

Re: Chin Straps, lip straps and a collapsing tongue.
My leak rate alarm went off last night for the first time... I immediately got up and fixed myself a sandwich (weak Pavlov wisecrack...)... Seriously, my mask had gotten knocked loose (I'm thinking I tried to roll over onto my stomach). It just barely woke me up and had you not posted this, I doubt ...

Re: Comparison Resmed S8 AutoSet II vs Remstar M Series
I think it's a personality thing. Respironics users seem a little more laid back about their machines. If you're not going to be "edgy" about your Resmed, they may not want you on their team... We don't care whose team you're on, unless you're gonna start whining about blue lights, the power brick, ...

Re: newbie ? re brand names
You probably can not get "auto" (nothing legal, cpap.com will sell you an auto with a "cpap" rx...), but you CAN insist on data. And be careful, because the industry loves to pass of "compliance" as "data". So make sure you get leak and AHI data. In the Respironics (decent enough machine) you would ...

Re: Day #2 not such a success
Not sure what's going on with the whole stopping heart thing, but it does take a little time for your lungs to get used to cpap. Although, with a pressure of 8 and exhale relief, you should have been fine. You might take a minute to fill out your equipment list in your profile and show titration and...

Re: Hi, all. A brief introduction.
Whoa. I had time today to read about the BiPAP Auto SV machine that Bev linked to (https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/bipap-auto-sv-cpap.html). That's like a dream machine, for me. But I seriously doubt my DME is going to provide something as costly as that. (I know the insurance code is exactly the...

Re: Big Problem - Need Advice Badly!
I wonder whether there is a psychological component to why this happens. I have so many sleep issues that I knew when the doctor first told me he thought I might have sleep apnea, before I ever had the first sleep test, that having a mask on my face was going to be a huge issue. After an hour of fe...

Welcome to Texas! If you have the opportunity, you should make a trip up to Austin. We have a lot to see and do up in the Capital City! Hey Mike, I lived in Austin for 15 years. Up by Parmer and Mopac. Worked forst at UT Zoology and then down by I35 and Ben White. Killer of a commute. I really miss...
