Re: Dental Device- Recording Sleep
Mtnviewer, Glad I read your post, 'my' neurologist suggested I go buy an overpriced jaw advancement device. NOT. He also suggested uvuloplasty as one of 3 choices, the last being CPAP. Questions- How do you record 8 hours of video with a regular camcorder? Mine uses a 30 minute DVD, which probably w...

Re: OT- Is Endoscopy a test or surgery? Big $ difference
I had to cancel the "endoscopic procedure" since I truly cannot afford to spend $750 for a diagnostic test after paying $14K/year for a healty family of 4 to get coverage. I tried to plead with the Dr.s office and they assured me they had checked with the doctor, and 'this is how they do it'. THey w...

OT- Is Endoscopy a test or surgery? Big $ difference
With my OSA, I have constant GERD and Aerophagia, and finally went to see a Gasotroenterologist, who wants to do an endoscope next week to see of there is Barretts syndrome or any other problems with my esophagus and stomach. My Aetna HMO lists Endoscopy as a outpatient diagnostic test(requiring a ...

Sleeping Sitting Up-is it a good solution?
I have a very positional type of severe OSA and have been sleeping on my side for the past 9 months, with a lot of issues like difficult falling asleep, leaks, aerophagia, and AHI's between 12-25 on a nightly basis. Last week I injured my shoulder and found the only comfortable position was sitting ...

What happened to Gen. Wesley Clark? He was an early candidate for Pres, haven't seen him since. I don't think he's in Obama's cabinet. His absence is conspicuous. I agree, Hannity is a smart showman and is making a ton of money playing a fictional character. But to offer to be waterboarded? Why not ...

Re: This IS scary
Yes, it is very hard to watch him sucking for air and getting none. Worse is another video of a child with OSA who was able to get cured with a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. I can't watch that child, but thankfully, it has a happy ending. Anyone who has kids should be made to watch that video! On...

Re: What came first; the Pressure or the Leak?
I'd really like to know also. Every apnea event or block of events on my data report is accompanied by a leak increase. They are simultaneous. Is the machine increasing pressure to quell apneas or to compensate for the leaks? Purely based on my own experience and how I feel, I tend to think the apne...

Re: doctor won't let Me buy on-line
Dear Dakota07, This is an interesting dilemma. You must sort out things and try to determine your doctors motives for taking this stance. I take it you have no insurance to offset some of these costs, otherwise you might have to follow your doctors directions to get compensated. You have to understa...

Custom Fit Sleep Systems Ltd. REAL or SCAM?
I recently was reading a thread in which an anonymous poster seemed to be promoting his/her own company or product and was mousetrapped in one reply by one of our more astute members. I didn't see the outcome. He left his URL in his post. I followed his link to his website and used the contact info ...

Re: New Sleep Study brings troubling new issues, Help Please
Rooster, Thanks, I have the Encore Viewer Version 1 and didn't realize I had not updated my profile. Thats how I know that all my 'apnea's' seem to be occurring simultaneously with leaks. I can't tell if the apap pressure rise is due to leaking or due to apneas. But they are inseparable, and not lar...

Re: New Sleep Study brings troubling new issues, Help Please
I don't have much faith in sleep studies to get one diagnosedand treated properly. One or two nights in a strange environment, hooked up to many sensors, strangers watching you all night -> nothing like your experience at home. Your profile says, "Additional Comments: Resmed S7 Lightweight, no soft...

Re: Gap in Therapy Graph? Is CPAP going off?
I understand (via PM) the the missing data on the chart (except for the gap) is a pdf to jpg coversion fluke. Which makes my above comment irrelevant. Could you simply copy the graphs from the PDF and paste then into "Painter" and save as a jpeg file? I'm not sure I understand what you mean by a " ...

Gap in Therapy Graph? Is CPAP going off?
Hi, I've seen this once before, and I thought maybe there was a power failure. But this time, there is not only a 'blacked out' portion o f the time graph, there is 1 1/2 hour break in the middle of the night where it looks like my cpap machine was turned off, or shut off, I can't tell what this mea...

Re: Too many Apneas, please help interpret chart
there is a leak problem - notice how the clusters of events come with oscillations of the leak graph - the machine probably will only record one thing at a time and it picks what it sees as worse at the time - sometimes it flips the coin and indicates leak, sometimes it comes up event fix the leaks...
