Re: Question for everyone about tape
I use a cloth tape, or paper type medical tape 1". I pull my lips in so that the tape doesn't touch my lips in when I put it on: Otherwise it rips the skin off my lips. I put a vertical strip in the middle of my mouth so that I can still sneeze or breathe if I have to. Someone once suggested the use...

Re: Nasal Pillow help please!
You may need to tighten the strap either at the top or the back. It takes a little practice. I'm a side sleeper, too. I used the pillows for about two years, but I'm back to a nose mask, for the last six months, which was working fine until I posted here that it was working fine. Now I haven't had a...

Re: Hose hanger?
Here's my no tech, no expense solution. I have a piece of string with one of those elastic scrunchies looped through it. I hang the string from the window lock above my bed and put the hose through it. Keeps it up and I never get tangled or pulled anymore. I'm not sure, but I think another part of h...

Re: Grieving the fact that my body fails to adequately breathe
We all have our ups and downs. And revisiting a past grief is not unusual. Allow yourself some "poor me" time, but don't just marinate in it. I had been struggling with my CPAP for years. Got nowhere, was still sleeping crummy, couldn't find a mask that worked for me and felt lucky that my apnea is ...

Re: I'm back and I'm whining
Thank you for your help.
I'll let you know what ends up working for me. I know I can't be the only one with this going on. I feel like 50% the air goes directly from the nose into the sinuses. Even though I've turned the humidity up to 5, it feels dry.

Re: I'm back and I'm whining
I am probably the only person I know who WANTED CPAP. I was thrilled when I was prescribed a machine. That's probably why I haven't given up. That and the help I've gotten from this forum. I don't know what a hybrid is, but I have the Swift FX, too... is that a hybrid? Probably not. I've also got th...

Re: I'm back and I'm whining
I'm actually a tape princess. I have several types. My most exciting experience was with the denture strips. Thanks for the hint. I will contact the DME and see what they say. They have given me different masks to try in the past, none of which I liked. I know I have asked about the FFM in the past ...

Re: I'm back and I'm whining
I was tested on a FFM but that wasn't what they prescribed. I don't think I have a copy of the sleep study. I went back to the orig. dr a few months ago and it was a very not satisfying 15 second appt. I'll go look among the "stuff" and see if I can find the sleep study. I've also gained about 15 po...

I'm back and I'm whining
I thought I would give everyone a break from my whining. I am still totally struggling with my CPAP after three years, or forty... I forget. The air blowing in my head gives me a headache. I taped my mouth shut and I took the skin off my lip among other mini disasters. I just saw an article on UARS ...

Re: New pressure worked really well last night
I'm into my second year on CPAP. At one time or another I've tried just about every suggestion given me. What's so frustrating is that I can do something and it will be a MIRACLE for like two days. Then it stops working. I have upped my pressure before, but put it back down. I think I'll try that ag...

Re: SWIFT FX - Comfort suggestions?
Thank you. I didn't even think about using anything bigger because I didn't want to stretch my nose out.

My night guard, which I've had for grinding for a bazillion years, doesn't affect my mouth breathing. Would a football one be different?

Re: New pressure worked really well last night
oooo good question. I have it too. The last couple months my sleep is lousy. My machine says that I'm not getting in my hours, and once it showed three sessions in the last week, even though I use it every night. I know I take it off when it bugs me. I was thinking of upping the pressure on my own. ...
