Re: feedback wanted any sleep number bed users

fuzzy96, My wife and I have had a sleep number bed (5000 series) and added a 4 inch Memory Foam topper to it. WE absolutely love it and have never had another bed like it. The only thing I would change is going with the 7000 or 9000 series Sleep Number bed, but we went the route we did because it sa...

Re: new Cpap user: Symptom question

I have been in the Sleep Medicine industry for the last 7 years and agree completely with JNK. I would HIGHLY recommend seeing a Sleep Specialist and ask him/ her the question that JNK stated so well. "Do you think the episodes of sudden weakness could be a from of cataplexy and may mean that I need...

APAP Therapy: How to get it!!!

I currently work at a medical equipment provider in CA and have a little insight for those of you in search of APAP therapy. Many DME companies do not like to (and sometimes refuse to) give out APAP machines for home therapy because of the cost difference between standard CPAP. They will often say m...

Re: Any hints on getting my doctor to prescribe APAP

KengESQ, I currently work at a medical equipment provider in CA and have a little insight for you. Praxaire (and many other DME companies) do not like to (and sometimes refuse to) give out APAP machines because of the cost difference. They will often say many things to the physicians that are simply...

Re: Fairly new to c-pap ~ another question ~ sorry

hope2sleep, Your questions are very common ones, so don't worry, you're doing fine! Previously, I was a sleep tech and used to set people up with CPAP in their home. Here's the thing with CPAP: it "treats" your sleep apnea, but doesn't "cure" it. What I mean is, every time you use the CPAP machine, ...

Re: Mouth sealed completely--AHIs go through roof

Paul, I agree with GoofProof, your leaks are out of sight. And based on how the machine works, if the air "circuit" between your lungs and the machine is broken (i.e. high leak), then any results that the machine would try to give are inaccurate. I'd get a FFM and go from there. Recommend: HYbrid FF...

Re: Newbie help with CPAP vs auto

I agree with the others as well. As a previous sleep technician, I would definitely recommend getting the titration study done (so long as it is covered by insurance) to get the proper pressure parameters unique to you. Then I would DEMAND an Auto-titrating machine, whether it is APAP or Auto-BiPAP ...

Yes, it's true. I am delighted with my medical equipment company! Let me ask you, how many of you (like me) have had issues with getting the "little things you need" from your medical equipment company ?!? I know that any time I needed something (even something as simple as a nasal pillow), it seems...

Re: Delighted w/ a CPAP Company? Really!!!

Sounds like the insurance company you have has this medical supply company. I had an insurance co. 2 years ago that did the same thing. Apria told me I couldn't get more than 1 pillow at a time.....which is hard when you plan on being on the road for 6 months at a time. The insurance company provid...

Re: Does Medicare reimburse Cpap.com purchases?

I have a medicare advantage type insurance. I would like to know if it ever reimburses anything purchased through Cpap.com. Thanks beckyboo, Medicare Advantage works similar to an HMO plan where they have selected providers that they have contracted with to provide services, equipment, etc. You wou...
