Re: CPAP & Camping (Battery Powered)
I used a 24 lb 35A deep cycle battery from Sam's club. That coupled with a ResMed DC-12 Converter powered my machine very well over a two night period. I am planning a long trip where on occassion we will have a night or two without power. I am highly confident that I won't have any problems.

Re: Travel CPAP - on a motorcycle
Don't think we'll camp, but really can't see taking my current machine unless I separate it from the humidifier section - but I'm concerned that the humidifier is essential in the CO/Utah area. Really think I need the most compact cpap+humidifier I can find to use for this motorcycle trip (or any o...

Re: Spouse of CPAP user can't sleep
My wife considers the noise from the machine to be white noise. Much better than snoring.

Re: Travel CPAP - on a motorcycle
The good news is that we'll always be within reach of 110v so I'm not talking batteries, but we are talking motorcycles and limited luggage space. Any recommendations for light and reliable - we are going to be in Denver and Utah, so both altitude and dry down by Moab. Are you camping? That would m...

Re: Cold Weather Camping with CPAP
My ResMed Autoset II worked well at temperatures from 30 to 40 degrees F last weekend. It does generate a little of its own heat. Perhaps that was enough.

Re: amp cpap
Resmed has a nice piece about using batteries and the draw rate for their products using an inverter or one of their converters http://www.resmed.com/assets/documents/service_support/battery_guide/battery-guide.pdf My Current draw at 12 V DC (amps) is probably close to 1.22 (based on the chart). So ...

Re: Travel Question
I wouldn't put anything fragile or valuable in my luggage.
Once I found a few buttons on a dress shirt broken after a flight. Also I have had the airlines lose baggage.

Re: amp cpap
I tested my battery (24lb, 12v, 35Amp deep cycle) by using it each night connected to my APAP machine until the battery check in the morning using a tester (from Harbor freight) said that the battery was in a "fair" state of charge. I use a ResMed converter, which supposedly prevents exceeding the d...

Re: I'm about to have "one of those conversations" with my DME!
I have found that most DME's don't care whether or not they have my business. So, threats of leaving don't seem to matter. I switched DME's because of service and billing processes, and have found that my new DME is not very proactive either. You think that they would be interested in selling suppli...

Re: CPAP Camping
Had a successful motorcycle camping trip last weekend (two nights) in a tent with temps between 30 and 40 degress farenheit. The 35 amp deep cycle battery held up well.

Re: Too much humidifier?
I think that it depends. I typically do not use the humidifier. However, recently when I got the flu, I ran the humidifier at a setting of 4! It really helped. I recommend that you experiment with the settings. Find a setting that you are comfortable with most of the time. If anything changes, you c...

Re: CPAP Camping
Surgery was an option. However, there are no guarantees. CPAP therapy is reversable. Just stop therapy and you are back where you started. This advice was given to me by a surgeon/who also did my sleep study. Having said that, my experiment for the third day actually went awry. I ended up with the f...

Re: CPAP Camping
This summer, we are planning a three week driving/camping trip. Some days we will have electricity and WIFI, others, we will be on battery. I expect to be able to charge up the battery on the days we are on electricity.

Re: CPAP Camping
Just wondering a few things: What pressure settings are you using? Are you using an inverter to power that machine? If using an inverter, is the Heated Humidifier turned on? Using a ResMed Autoset II APAP pressure varying from 13 to 17. I am using the ResMed Converter to power the machine without a...

Re: CPAP Camping
Update:
Really only good for 2 solid nights. It still had reserve power, but I don't think that it was satisfactory for 3 nights. However, it will work very well for my purposes.
