Re: Perscriptions for CPAP Machines?
I would love to know how many reported cases there are of a person being injured by a CPAP machine (other than dropping it on their foot). I'm sure it has happened, but seems like it would be a very rare event. The risk/benefits of lowering the bar way down on getting CPAP treatment is probably off ...

Re: Sleep Number Bed
I had a sleep number bed for about 10 years. I liked the bed, but it was very limiting as you have to sleep on one side or the other. In the middle you fall into a gap between the two air bladders. So having a king size was really like having two extra long twins. Very limiting if you sleep alone or...

Re: Now available in USA
They reference two papers but do not have links to these. I was able to pull one "paper" up on-line. It looked like a poster session at a conference -- not a real paper. They published the abstract from the poster session in the journal. It only deals with patient compliance not efficacy. Would love...

Re: Insurance company taken for a ride? BCBSIL
Seems like a boat load of money to me too. I am waiting for the BC/BS accounting to come in for my first CPAP. I was told it was a purchase and I would owe $320 including a mask. If I am paying 20%, the total cost should be about $1600 for something I could get on-line for under $1,000. Pretty good ...

Re: Perscriptions for CPAP Machines?
Slinky has a sad but true point about the insurance. Maybe one of the basic problems in medicine. Can't see the forest for the trees. I worked most of my life at probably the best hospital in the world. Had my hands into both clinical and business. I remember once (early on) saying at a meeting of t...

Perscriptions for CPAP Machines?
I am new and naive to the CPAP world of hospital sleep studies, prescriptions for machines, fighting with durable medical equipment folks, and taking control of your ongoing theapy. But I am not new to the field of screening for chronic conditions. At my request, my primary physician wrote me an ord...

Re: Attn Newbies: your brain may be fried.....
I was diagnosed with severe OSA about 2 months ago. It took over a month to get titrated and set up with the equipment. I found this site and demanded an auto unit and three masks upfront based on what I read. During the time I knew I had OSA and finally getting the equipment I dreaded going to bed ...

Re: ResMed Autoset II Data Schedule and Meaning
Thanks. I've tried all of the work-arounds suggested in CPAPTalk including disabling Wifi and NIC drivers, installing the ARC38 driver in safe mode, and many rebooting and application load sequencing suggestions. Unfortunately I have three laptops that are identical and have the same ResScan install...

Re: ResMed Autoset II Data Schedule and Meaning
Update: I tried every trick on CPAPTalk for loading ResScan 3.7 on my XP SP3 computers. The computers say the driver loades successfully, but then ResScan can't see it. I have three of them (laptops). Including assuming my data card was corrupt and using a spare one. I still get the dreaded "No devi...

Re: ResMed Autoset II Data Schedule and Meaning
Thanks to all for the valuable information. I have already put it into practice by setting the settling to 30 minutes. I have the correct mask setting (Swift) and am getting leakage of 0.2. The Swift manual does not say what is acceptable for leakage, but the S8 clinical manual says that .2 is a ver...

ResMed Autoset II Data Schedule and Meaning
I have been on my first CPAP machine (ResMed AutoSet II) for about 16 days. I have yet to obtain the ResScan software, but have been writing down all of the efficacy and utilization data daily. I have a question on how these data are derived and what time period they represent. I have read the user ...

Re: Crazy price for ResScan 3.73 and reader
I am in the same situation -- obviously a newbie. I bought the card and the card reader (way too much $$). Then realized you needed software to interprete the data on the card through the card reader. Seems like they should give you the software with the card reader -- otherwise why would you ever n...
