Re: THE GREAT PILLOW EXCHANGE
I've got 6 Swift FX Med pillows... I loved my Swift FX and was trying to swap out the pillows more often to keep the mid-morning leaks down and had stocked up, and then tried the TapPap and they went away... All in ResMed ziplocks, but not in the bigger bag they ship in from CPAP.com - non smoking /...

Re: Shipping CPAP to Europe
UPS used to be cheapest, but I've found USPS flat rate was pretty cheap, but I went to check instead of just saying it - I looked at USPS large flat-rate box - w/ bubble wrap, could get a small CPAP in, but I checked - $16 domestic turns into $60 international. So not cheap, but I guess the question...

Re: Looking for DIY chin strap directions
Hey Cindy - Yeah - I'm a PAPCAP convert - was using the Respironics one for nearly a year before I had to replace the 2nd one for stretching out, and wanted to see if I could find something that wouldn't stretch out so much and would stay on better. The PAPCAP did both for me, and brought my AHI dow...

Re: nose bleed
When I switched from a FFM to pillows, I was able to reduce the temp on my humidifier from 2.5 down to 1 and then passover mode. I then said "Hey, maybe I don't need it", and went w/o the humidifier for a few days - started to see some blood in the tissue when I blew my nose, and then one day at wor...

Re: Play MASK ROULETTE. Give a mask, get a mask, win a mask?
Have ComfortGel FFM - size large, cushion, headgear - full setup. Used for 3 weeks before I found out nasal pillows were a much better fit for me. No pets / non-smoker. Was keeping it as a backup, but I have a NAII that I was trying out that I'd rather use as a backup. Free to anyone who wants it - ...

Re: extra strong chin strap
I use the Respironics Chin-Strap, and notice that after 6m of daily use, I need to replace it. Is yours (relatively) new, or maybe yours is also getting "elastic fatigue"? Otherwise, do you have it adjusted so that while awake, if you open your mouth, you have to consciously hold your jaw open, or i...

Re: helpppp
What type of mask do you use? I use dual-wall Nasal Pillows (Swift LT), and the inner pillow can collapse back, causing greatly reduced airflow. If you use Nasal PIllows, take a look and make sure both the inner and outer pillows are "pointing out". john PS If you fill in your equipment in your prof...

Re: Question about mouth breathing
When you hear snoring, can you see if his mouth is open? Question is it mouth snoring or nose snoring - double check, as I can snore either way. Assuming it is mouth snoring (from the subject of the post), a chin strap should take care of it - your dad probably just needs to adjust the chin strap to...

Re: Traveling with PAP… extra filters + Ayr Gel
I'd add 2 items to the list: 1) Extra filters: >1 disposable + 1 washable/re-usable. I always bring 1 disp + 1 washable on trips, even if just 1 wk (in case they fall out during TSA inspection). Just got back from 4wks away - mostly in Bangalore (Bengaluru), India. Noticed the air from the CPAP "sme...

I heard a little bit of something like this on NPR's ~2wks ago. Transcript of the NPR show is at: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=120833750 Search down for "Dan Little" - he mentions the FMCSA 2010 effort, which is on the gov web page at: http://csa2010.fmcsa.dot.gov/ It was mor...

Re: Brief burning smell in the night
If it's not the water, and the machine is running fine, could it be a "phantom" smell? I read your post yesterday, and in the middle of the night, I woke up smelling coffee brewing, and not just a generic "coffee brewing" smell, but Peet's Garuda. Not an out of water in the humidified issue, and the...

Re: First 2 Nights With Swift LT
Sounds like you don't use a hose-hanger. I made one after switching to the pillows, for same reason as you - if the hose flopped off the edge of the bed, it pulled the mask too much. Here's RestedGal's compendium of solutions - I did the home-made PVC version and it helps a bunch: http://www.cpaptal...

Re: "I switched to the Swift LT" ...because?
I switched from the ComfortGel FF - after 3wks of fighting it, and trying to get my nose to heal (I either had leaks & apneas, or sores). The Dr's office loaned me an Optilife to try (DME told me I'd get used to it - I still have the scar on my nose from trying to get used to is), and it was much be...

Re: First 2 Nights With Swift LT
I switched to the Swift LT ~8 months ago - had the sore tip of the nose, and also increased leaks after 5-6hrs of sleep. For me, solving both was to route the hose straight down, instead of over my head, and then to keep it from wandering around, use the leg from a pair of tights to hold it there......
