DME has my new prescription!

Well I have received a call back from my DME saying that they have a new prescription from the Dr, approval from my insurance and are planning on ordering my bipap. I had specifically asked for a fully data capable machine which she had given me a really hard time about. She told me she had serious ...

Re: Help needed for convincing them to rx a BI PAP

My plan is to get my study and my new rx and then ask the price of the new bipap. When they tell me the cost, I will say that I feel it is overpriced and I will purchase elsewhere. I can be patient and wait out finding a good deal because I have a perfectly usable machine in the meantime. Believe me...

Re: Help needed for convincing them to rx a BI PAP

You would be so proud! I walked in there today ready for an uphill battle. I laid it out and the first "technician" asked me what type of mask I was using. Like she didn't know, my chart was in front of her and she was the one who fitted it for me. She said a full face mask was my problem. I correct...

Help needed for convincing them to rx a BI PAP

I am going to the sleep center on Tuesday and will be trying to convince them that I need a bipap rather than the basic M series DS100 they gave me on the 16th. My pressure is 19 and the machine makes too much noise upon exhale and it feels like I'm fighting to exhale. Jules has told me that the mac...

Re: New user needs advice

I forgot to ask about the smart card. What is it and what do I do with it?

Re: New user needs advice

OK, noise kicks in at 8.1. I am so discouraged already. I think tonight I may try to sleep with my MP3 to see if I can drown it out.

Re: New user needs advice

Thank you GumbyCT! I have disconnected it and used it without the humidifier. I have found that at full 19 setting it makes the noise but when I turn on the ramp at 6 no noise upon exhale. I am now wearing it and waiting to see at what setting does the noise kick in. I'll get back to you with my res...

Re: New user needs advice

The new Remstar M series is a S100. I am trying to troubleshoot this thing and I would like to disconnect the humidifier unit from the CPAP so I can test it without the humidifier. It seems to me that when I was ion class and it was not yet connected to a humidifier, I don't remember the noise, beca...

Re: New user needs advice

The used machine I have is a Respironics BIPAP PRO w/BIFLEX and features Digital Auto Trak sensitivity. It has a "smart card" that goes into the left side of it. It is model 1007216. Pressure is set for 12 which I guess is what it was set at for original user. I have three masks . Mask is a Resmed u...

New user needs advice

I am new to the world of CPAP. When I first found out I had sleep apnea (97 in 1 hour) I found out it would be more than a month before I could attend the class to receive my machine. I was scared to go to sleep. My DIL found a used machine for me on Craigslist and had it sent to me. Nice bi-pap wit...
