Re: Surgery and Sleep Apnea
When you think about it, a great percentage of OSA sufferers are undiagnosed - and I'm guessing that probably the same percentage of non-diagnosed OSA sufferers have surgeries for this, that, and the other as diagnosed sufferers do - so - it's probably fair to say that OSA, diagnosed or otherwise, i...

Re: Thought I broke my mask last night
:D No I have the ResMed Mirage Micro Nasal mask and yeah that was a scare. Took a nap with my pap today, but I had no intention of sleeping, but then maybe I needed it. I was so cold as it is cold over here and I laid down under the electric blanket to get warm and I put on the pap and snuggled dow...

Re: Thought I broke my mask last night
:D I sure was so lucky that it didn't break. I moved a certain way in my sleep and next thing I heard was a loud snap! It woke me up big time and I turned on the light and found the elbow to my mask still attached to the hose and my mask was on my face. I took it off and holding the elbow in one ha...

Come to think of it, my S8 used to do that a little for a while, but has long since come right (I'd actually forgotten all about it).

Re: Does Higher pressure stop snoring?
It is my understanding that an auto is slow to respond to an apnea and only raises the pressure in small increments, so the minimum pressure should be set only 1-2cms below your titrated or 90-95% pressure so the auto doesn't have too far to go to prevent an event. It varies between manufacturers, ...

Re: Does Higher pressure stop snoring?
[quote="Steves396lt1I can change it to APAP, simple setting change. Will this affect compliance?[/quote] Hi Steve, I can only speak from my own experience, but I can't think of any reason why I'd want a fixed pressure when the machine is capable of adjusting it "on the fly". Why not just try it for ...

Hi BlackSpinner - your mention of a change in vision caught my eye - just wondering if you'd be so kind as to comment on a thread I started a while back concerning this?BlackSpinner wrote:my eye sight has shifted since I started cpap.

Re: Does Higher pressure stop snoring?
Just wondering if upgrading to a APAP machine might be beneficial? I use one and (like most I assume) if has a (for want of a better word) built-in "snore detector" that simply increases the pressure until snoring stops. Until I became a "hose head" I was one of those who could keep people at the ot...

Re: Anybody using a VideoCam at night?
I did that once as an experiment - I was quite surprised at how much I DIDN'T toss and turn. I'd suggest just "give it a go" - mine has a built-in hard drive so capturing an entire sleep wasn't an issue - so assuming you can do that too then why not?

Re: POSSIBLE OR NOT?
did a thyroid panel and new heart doc is #2 opinion, plus sodium level is low on blood test, I KNOW SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT BUT NO ONE WILL FIND IT How about this approach: "Doctor - thank you for what you've done so far - however - obviously, something is still seriously wrong. Where can we go from...

Re: POSSIBLE OR NOT?
Sounds to me like something is DEFINATELY not right ... might be a good idea to seek a 2nd opinion - sounds like your existing doc is completely missing something.

Re: My S9 wheezes
This is probably not the noise - but - I used to get a small but noticeable "whistle" when breathing out with the quattro - it was coming from where the plastic elbow joins the mask (really needs a seal). A couple of turns of waxed dental floss cured it for good.

Re: redness under mask
I'm also using the Quattra - and I usually have it cranked all the way in ... which means that there is very little room between my nose and that part of the mask. I use a buckwheat pillow - sleep on my side - and if I don't get the pillow ONLY under my head it pushes the mask against my nose and ir...

Re: Poll: Senitive/Hyperarousable Sleepers
For me it depends on what phase of sleep I'm in - sometimes my partner will speak and I'll hear her - sometimes a text message will be received on the cell phone (sometimes in another room) and I'll figure out "hey, that was a text message" about a minute later - whilst other times my daughter might...
