It may well be sinus troubles. I would first make sure you are using the right size pillow for your mask. I would go up one size and see if that helps. I know on my Swift the pillows are very soft and can collapse making it hard to exhale or inhale. Going up one size solved that problem for me. Also...

Not sure, maybe CPAP machines are considered "weapons of mass destruction" or something over there. I've thought mine is at times.

I think it really just depends on the person. I know for me I try to use it, usually in pass-over, but there have been times I was out of distilled water and did fine with out it. Where I live the air isn't usually dry so that may be part of it too.

I usually run in APAP but I do sometimes switch to CPAP or use my backup machine that is a CPAP.
