Re: Off CPAP before home sleep study???
Thanks so much for these replies. Ultimately it was 6 nights without the machine and I actually now have a cold, the first one since before covid. You’re right I shouldn’t have gotten a study. I agreed to it thinking it could lead to improved treatment depending on my numbers but that was misguided ...

Off CPAP before home sleep study???
New sleep doctor advised to stop using machine 1-2 weeks prior to home sleep study. Have been a compliant CPAP user for about 14 years, and have had a few follow up sleep studies: I have never once heard this before. The logic allegedly is that by allowing the inflammation that comes with apnea to i...

Help needed
I had settled on a favorite mask/cushion combination - the ResMed Mirage Activa LT headgear (medium) with a Mirage Activa STANDARD cushion - and I am now routinely buying them on eBay, etc. as both are discontinued by ResMed. I have tried other masks over the last couple of years like the Airfit and...

Re: Crisis support needed - from veteran user
Yes, thank you. I should have mentioned I bought a few of the discontinued cushions online, but they tend to be a little “yellowish” in color. Not used but not great condition. Would rather find something new yet similar. Appreciate the fast responses!

Crisis support needed - from veteran user
It took me a year to find a setup that worked, and as a result I am nearly 100% complaint. I have twice as much energy in my early 50s than I had in my 40s, annual physicals are great, and life is overall much better. This has been the case since late 2008, so it's been more than a decade. Now, a de...

How often do you change water
Hearing recently of doctors emphatically telling patients to change out humidifier water DAILY.
If using distilled water is that really necessary?
Have known Cpap vets who change it only when it runs out and have never had an issue.
What have you been advised?

How to dry a hose after cleaning
I read in a manual that one should never blow dry the hose with a machine after cleaning. This runs counter to what I've been doing for the last 3 years, with no discernible fallout. I always thought hang-drying a hose would not do the trick, and make the hose susceptible to mold/mildew. Any guidance?

Need help with titration etc
I tried APAP for the first time and after 4 weeks I can say something isn't right. I feel like I'm never getting enough pressure coming in and wake up a lot at 3a or 4a. It sucks. When I go back to CPAP I feel it's an improvement but the pressure seems a little intense. Here is possibly the issue. I...

DME IS LAME - PLEASE HELP
So I have a new Respironics machine - with A-flex. The doctor told me to send in the data card after two weeks to see how i'm doing. I tried calling my company and they never called me back with guidance. Tonight i took the SD card out and slid the little bar on it - was that a mistake? when i put i...

New Problem after almost 2 years
It will be two years for me on CPAP come November and I've gotten into a nice groove with the Activa nasal mask. In the last few months however, despite a brand new mask, I seem to be shifting in my sleep and creating leaks and a loud sound of rushing air which awakens my wife. My leak and AHI #s ar...

Re: Full Face Fiasco
It's a good question - and I might just end up doing that. The doctor felt I should TRY a FF to see how much better the therapy could be. At least a couple of people I've spoken to swear that the only true CPAP therapy is with a FF mask. I'm open to anything!

Full Face Fiasco
I am a 15-month CPAP user and finally got into a groove with the Activa mask. The doctor at my sleep center suggested I try a FF mask because i was having some leaks--she said they were low enough to be tolerable but that I should TRY the FF and see if there was a marked improvement. To offer some b...

Resmed S8 Elite Question
Is there a way to disable the feature on the S8 Elite that turns the power off automatically after five seconds or so when there is no mask attached? Although I like this feature, I found with the older machine that blowing air through the hose after cleaning it was the most effective way of drying ...

Big Problem - Need Advice Badly!
Five months on CPAP. Just getting to the point where I can go to sleep "forgetting" I have this thing strapped to my face. In the first few weeks of struggling, I used to read posts about people who would find the mask next to them in the middle of the night, having had no idea they removed it. I th...
