Re: Activa LT?
My original Activa was replaced with the Activa LT. The forehead adjustment is finer and provides better fit on bridge of nose. The cushion has a smaller range of expanding movement, but that seems to be of no consequence. The vent I found noisier than the original, and when wet with rainout in cold...

Re: Storing cpap mask during day
My mask came with a storage bag, one side of which is nylon mesh for ventilation. The mask is a Resmed Activa. If you really want one you could order that bag as a spare part. I only use mine when I'm away from home though, to protect it when travelling, I just leave the mask in the bathroom to dry ...

Re: Longer hose cause pressure loss?
Resmed machines I have used have a hose length setting for 2 and 3 metres. If used with a Resmed integrated humidifier, the 3 metre setting is automatically disabled. Resmed's user manual says only 2 metre hoses should be used with a humidifier. The machine cannot compensate for the combined pressur...

Re: Is sleep apnea the source of my anxiety?
I suffered from anxiety and depression a few years ago, caused initially by sleep deprivation due to apnea, from before and around the time I started CPAP treatment and continuing for a year or so afterwards. I've a few suggestions based on my experience. I'd never suffered anxiety or depression pri...

Re: Resmed auto set II data questions
The SW number is the machine's software version code, some of the others are hardware version codes, not settings that might be changed. Best not to alter settings on the clinician menu if you just started treatment, your clinician may object, or you may make treatment less effective if you don't un...

Re: H4i Humidifier
Hi If you breathe a lot through your mouth a humidifier is likely to be essential, and you'll probably need it on a near maximum setting to be effective. However on a high setting, condensation in the tube and mask can be a problem in winter when the room is colder. Make sure the machine is not high...

Re: Distilled Water
Hi The original post from Dilligat was:- Where do peole get it? Do you buy it or have a machine to make it like this one? http://www.smartstill.com/ Here in the UK distilled water is expensive to buy. I'm also in London UK. The only place to buy distilled water in most areas is a pharmacy and they n...

Re: Dry mouth with tape
Hi Have you tried a chin strap? I find that stops me breathing through my mouth and its more comfortable than tape. When I first started CPAP I didn't have a humidifier and always had a very dry mouth. The humidifier helps with that, and also improves nasal breathing as the increased airflow with CP...

Re: Activa mask troubles
Check the cushion is fitted properly. Remove cushion and check that the coloured triangular frame is properly seated in the slots in the cushion, before refitting cushion to mask. Its easy to leave one corner of the frame behind the slot rather than in the slot.

Re: crud in my humidifier tank
On the H3i humidifier, if you remove the metal heater plate from the base of the tank, you can clean the inside of the tank fairly easily with a cotton wool ball or small cloth, moving it around with a finger. I wash the tank in washing-up detergent daily, and clean as above every week. I'm using lo...

Re: 3 nights with a new full face mask - Questions
You could maybe try a small pad of folded tissue or cloth under one side of the forehead pad. That should tilt the mask to one side to fit your face better.

Re: Humidifier games
Its good to know that the H4i works better than the H3i. Since I had the heating on this winter, had to turn the H3i up to maximum and still no good. Resmed's product info says the H4i produces 30% more humidity. Did the H4i come as standard with the water chamber that opens up for cleaning? I've se...

Re: Distilled Water
I have been using Volvic bottled water in my humidifier for the last 5 years. It has the lowest mineral content of any bottled water sold in Europe. It works well in coffee makers and irons too. If you allow the humidifier to run dry, there's a very slight limescale residue on the heater plate. That...

Re: Almost 2 years and no better sleep
I've been on APAP for around 5 years now. The results have been very variable due to a number of issues. By a process of elimination I've resolved some of these and worked out the causes. 1) I was mouth breathing, so tried a full-face mask. This was not very comfortable, leaks caused facial sores, a...

Re: Just got an APAP
That can't be right. Setting minimum pressure to 12 would cancel out any advantage of having APAP versus CPAP. The idea is that full pressure is used only when its needed. Setting minimum to 12 would in effect cause full pressure all the time if your fixed CPAP waqs set to 12. I think the settings y...
