want to say thanks, been away a while
Folks, when I was first diagnosed I was living in Texas with a dialup modem and limited internet. Keeping up with this board was nigh impossible. But I want to say thank you to those of you who helped, and helped a lot. I am in CT now, wifi at the library, and tweeting about the cognitive consequenc...

Re: Anyone else notice a singing voice improvement after CPAP?
Glad to return to this board after hiatus, and to find this thread. I picked up an Irish pennywhistle Nov. 08 and have been learning to play it -- and my most recent sleep study showed I had NO apneas/hypopneas (though still RERAS fragmenting sleep) whereas in the first study pre-playing I had avg 1...

Re: Minimum PC required to run software? How to tell improvement
the non-mseries will need Encore Pro 1.4 - maybe even 1.3 - and if you can get a copy of that, you can run those on 98. Okay, just found my disc, it says 1.8.49...uh oh....it came to me from another friend -- my whole setup is piecemeal -- but I guess I need an older version. Thanks ...

Re: Minimum PC required to run software? How to tell improvement
The XP requirement came in with encore pro 1.5. There have been some successes with windows 2000 and 1.6 I have heard through the rumor mill. However ME didn't work with 1.5 I heard at the time. For the new Encore Viewer or for Encore Pro 1.8 you need to find someone who bought it and still has the...

Re: Minimum PC required to run software? How to tell improvement
Anything that can run XP is fine, the software isn't the problem it's the computer. Jim-- does the machine have to be able to run XP, or is some older version of "Windoesn't" (meaning a much cheaper computer) acceptable? If the card softward says XP, then I guess that's it... Over the years we have...

Carbonman, what did you mean when you said the ultramirage was a "blue collar" mask? Thanks.

Re: Mirage Quattro Leaks/side sleeper
CP, I hear you. I am a side sleeper, too. I tried to make the Quattro work, but could not. It has the look, feel and engineering to be THE mask. I found it to be very "fickle". I finally gave up and use an UltraMirage. It's a blue collar mask. It works. I have developed a way to kind of turn my fac...

Minimum PC required to run software? How to tell improvement
Hi all -- am having trouble getting a PC that I can put my software on, the available one I was going to use is on the fritz. If I buy a used PC to run the CPAP software on, what is the minimum requirement to get it to work? I mean, how old and cheap a machine can I use? I wouldn't be using it for a...

Re: Has anyone started an exercise program after starting CPAP
FWIW -- About what time of day to exercise: In '82 in NYC I had some injuries and took physical therapy at sports training institute, a really top-notch place. Never a morning person, I took my PT after work. It was whole-body intensive, including lots of aerobic work and strength training 3 times p...

(previously posted as guesticle) Sounds like you've gotten a hold of yourself -- good! If you're a clinical SW then you know what you need to do because you may be trying to teach your customers/clients/patients similar things! And I can tell you, mid-way through my 5th week on trying to get all the...

Re: benadryl? --astelin
After having used steroidal nasal sprays and finding they caused such stinging and bloody noses, I stopped to let my nose heal and eventually was given a trial of Astelin. Besides having annoying TV commercials, it was an excellent choice -- for me -- although to prevent the sensation of over-drying...

You should be good to go. The reason Mr. Green looks so happy, his software won't run enough stuff to keep him busy, so he can just email and surf away.... Jim
Re: best place to get a respironics smart card for old machine?
Goofproof-- Mr. Green may well be a Mac user -- hes the happiest looking one of the bunch But how do I know if the machine will collect the data? I assumed if it took a smartcard that it would...? the cards for the tanks are identical to the m series - cpap.com sells them exactly what machine did yo...
