To me, it's kind of like weighing yourself at home and then again at the Dr's office. The numbers will never match. In fact, if you used 5 scales, they probably all be different.

As others have posted, the important thing is the direction, just as in weight loss. The numbers are relative.

CPAP.COM Mask Sizing Guide

It looks like we are going to be a 2 hose-head family. My wife was just diagnosed with OSA also, so I'm trying to get her set up with a rig. My question is this: What has been your experience with the mask sizing guide on CPAP.COM? I input my wife's dimensions and was leaning toward the Activa, but ...

Just a comment about pre-heating.... I've stopped pre-heating my hh after reading some of the posts in other threads on this forum which speculated about moisture getting into the machine while the hh is on with out the blower running. I happen to agree this could be a real possibility, so I now jus...

Well, I made a manometer and checked it when I thought the machine wasn't working right. Much to my surprise, the numbers on the manometer and the LCD display on the apap were exactly the same. So, I guess my original question has been answered...One does get use to the pressure after a while. Bob

I think I'm going to try something. I am going to tape record some fake snores and play them back from a few feet away, while I am awake and using my apap. I'll let you know what happens.

Smelly headgear

Sorry folks, I know this is gross, but I had to ask....

I shampoo my hair every day, but my Aura headgear (about a month old) is beginning to smell like dirty hair. I've scrubbed it with shampoo and a brush several times, but I can't seem to get the odor to go away. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bob

I would definitely learn what your titration needs to be, based on your sleep study. Then, I would go into the setup and verify that the setting is correct. Sometimes, the DME leaves the pressure setting at 4-20, ignorantly thinking that the machine will find the correct setting. This is wrong! The ...

Sometimes feels like there is no pressure

Does anyone else experience this? When I first start the machine, I feel resistance when I exhale. After a few breaths, it seems that the resistance is totally gone. I have only been using cpap for about a month, and it didn't seem to feel like this in the beginning. Am I just getting used to it now...

ozij posted this link elsewhere in the forum. It gives a great explanation. It takes a very long time to load, so be patient. Also, turn up your sound.

Pretty amazing! I was titrated at 6. The formula says 6.3! I have my apap set for 6-10, and spend about 70% of my time at 6-7, with the balance in the 8-9 range.

I try to keep it simple. I found that the rubber end of the 6' hose fits perfectly on to my sink faucet. I keep the hose and headgear attached. Every day, I just stick it on the faucet, put some baby shampoo on my fingertips to clean my nasal pillows, and turn on the faucet to flush the hose and pil...

I would suggest you take the hose with you to Radio Shack. The power adapter has a universal fitting, but you have to add a special connector to the power adapter to get it connected to the hose. The special connecter is free with the purchase of the power adapter, but there are many different types...
