Re: Distilled Water
Get mine at the grocery store, too, for less than $1 for a gallon. I've looked at this distller though, considered it. http://waterdistiller.com/distiller-water/water-distillers-love.html http://a1149861.sites.myregisteredsite.com/peo-man_drinking.gif I have the exact same water distiller as in tha...

Re: Swollen Legs, Feet, Ankles???
sleep apnea can cause right heart failure (probably one of the most common causes actually), which causes lower leg swelling.

I take it ractar28 has lived in Mexico and you do know these poor-area Mexican doctors on a personal basis? You speak as an authority on the subject and I fail to accept that you are one. I've driven through Arkansas before, but that doesn't mean I married my sister. Heck, I've lived in a mobile ho...

Re: newbie: clogged nose ergo apnea?
I've seen a lot of this type of symptoms this month as I'm doing an allergy rotation (I'm still a resident, so do rotations in a lot of medicine sub-specialties). The typical approach by the allergists is to do a detailed history of what makes your symptoms worse and whether it might be an environme...

Re: 5 days into CPAP
My sleep seems to be getting better each night now. One thing I did notice was that with a pressure of 9 I would start to snore right at the brink of falling asleep and it would keep me from sleeping. Last night I raised the pressure to 10 and the snoring was less pronounced, but my AHI was 6.0 per ...

Re: 5 days into CPAP
I did quite a bit better last night. I like sleeping in really cold rooms (60 degrees), but cranked the thermostat up to 70 last night and didn't get any rainout in the mask. I also found that I could sleep on my side with my mask better than I had previously though. I probably need to try some diff...

I'll be the first to admit that there are a lot of problems with our current US health care system, but socialized medicine, single payer system, or whatever you want to call it would not be the utopia that many think. The US government already has socialized medicine for a certain population, it's ...

5 days into CPAP
So I received my machine last Saturday and have slept with it for 5 nights. I'm looking for any advice to deal with my current issues: FYI, I have a ComfortGel Nasal Mask 1. Water in mask: I typically have my humidifier set to either passover mode or 1, so I'm not having trouble with water in my hos...

Re: Where does all the air go?
Actually with normal breathing we breath out MORE than we breath in, in terms of volume. A fixed volume of cool air enters the lungs, expands due to the lungs being warmer than room air, and a higher volume of air is exhaled.

Re: Are Health Care Costs Helping Bankrupt the Economy?
Here is a little secret, there is no "price of the procedure". $20,000 for a heart cath is simply nothing more than a "list" price and is meaningless. The insurance company will only pay the physician a small percentage of the quoted amount. The insurance companies determine the cost of health care,...

Re: A MUST READ..BP corrected
ACE inhibitors such as lisinopril can actually make your potassium levels increase. It is not uncommon to see patients on ACE inhibitors come in with potassium levels greater than 5.0 (normal range 3.5-5.0), and the first step in management is to lower ACE inhibitor dose or discontinue altogether. D...

Re: A question for doctors/med professionals re HR & SpO2
Perhaps I should have been a bit more detailed in my previous post. Tachycardia (rapid heart rate >100) can be caused by hypoxia (low SpO2), but there isn't any sort of direct correlation, i.e. rise in heart rate leads to low pulse ox and vice versa. I've seen many, many patients with heart rates in...

Well I took the plunge and bought the below listed equipment myself. Is there anything else that I will need? I also bought a manometer and hose cover. My order should arrive tomorrow, I'm looking forward to sleeping better.

There is no correlation between HR and Sp02.
