Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Hi all, here's an update on my progress since getting the 'official' pressure increase to 13.4cm and a full face mask. That mask has been a godsend! It is so much more comfortable sleeping with it than with the poligrip + tape + chinstrap mouth-seal (that was sticky, itchy, messy, complicated, and e...

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Ok, I'm just back home from seeing the specialist. I have mixed feelings about this meeting. I wrote up a detailed explanation for the Doc, explaining absolutely everything, including the latest experimentation, for her to read. She was very soft spoken and understanding in addressing my perhaps ove...

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Lol Rested Gal! that's one content cat! And so am I! I couldn't resist last night -- the time was ripe: I set my pressure to 14 cm. Up a full cm. And man'o'man am I happy to have done that UPDATE: DAY 8 slept 8 hours. My brain Fog feels like an even fainter echo (almost completely gone)! No dryness ...

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Many thanks Karen for your compliments and wonderful support throughout I am lucky to have found such generous and wise CPAP mentors! Yesterday was great! I only got a little bit tired in the afternoon, but that was not because of sleep. Cognitively my brain was functioning so well! it was fantastic...

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Many thanks for the compliment Rested Gal, an honour

I certainly couldn't have made such good progress without all of you wonderfully generous and caring individuals!

You have all really helped me get out of that depressive slump I found myself stuck in

All the best,
arkein

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Thanks Karen for the input, I don't think Provigil and Piracetam compete with each other for neurotransmitters: It is thought that provigil mainly increases dopamine and serotonin release in specific portions of the brain, while Piracetam increases acetylcholine release throughout. So they work on d...

Re: Which PPI for GERD???

I've been prescribed lanzoprazol (same as prevacid), which works very well to eliminate my symptoms and seems to have no interactions with my other medicines (especially provigil). Over the counter Omeprazol also works, but not as well, and does not mix well with provigil in my experience.

Re: Provigil

I think its a good "crutch" when the CPAP therapy isn't effective and you're underslept. Works very well for me, I usually take one pill at noon when I feel underslept. Makes me feel mentally alert and refreshed, with no sense of anxiety like I can get with caffeine. I can even sleep after taking it...

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Update, Day 4: Got quite sleepy in the afternoon and took 1 provigil (which I haven't taken in weeks). The provigil was enough to keep me up, so no naps. Got a slight attack of weird brain fog in the afternoon. No where as strong as usual though. Familiar strange symptoms: facial tightness, tightnes...

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Many thanks again Karen for the useful info! I'm definitely a hardcore mouth leaker! I'd never heard about this type of product before. I do use regular mouthwash almost every night. Checked out the Biotene site... so funny that they do it for pets too makes sense though when I think of my late dog'...

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Thanks Karen My former hose used to be longer. The replacement my RT last gave me is shorter. I could ask for a longer one when I next see her. But putting the machine on the windowsill is doing the job quite well. As I'm a side sleeper, I'll try fixing the swivel nozzle of the nose mask so that the...

Re: SAD, sleeping too much

I don't think its hoo-ha I do remember reading that brain serotonin and melatonin levels varry with the amount of sunlight / bright light we are exposed to (less light exposure, less of the former, more of the latter). Serotonin is one of the key neurotransmitters regulating mood (roughly less serot...

Re: Does Anyone Here Have Memory Loss and/or Brain Fog Issues?

My Brain Fog is definitely linked to OSA and how well the CPAP therapy is working. Without CPAP I am a brain dead, zombie. Totally dysfunctional. Can't compute. BSOD. When my CPAP was set with too low pressure and lots of leakage, I did feel more functional comparatively, but still had massive brain...

Re: will the doc know if I changed pressure?

Thanks Karen for all that very useful info, Making good use of it Update: Day 4 13 cm pressure + poligrip & bandage tape sealed lips + GERD medicine + machine brought closer and hose hung above head - Went to bed very late (4 AM) because of the inadvertently long afternoon nap yesterday. Woke up at ...
