Re: Help! Questioning treatment recommendations
Thanks for the input. I just spoke with an RT from the sleep lab, because the Dr. is on vacation. They want to do the home titraton because the split night didn't give them enough info on the centrals, and if they were caused by the cpap or not. They said that often times they find that centrals can...

Help! Questioning treatment recommendations
Hi, My husband went for his first sleep study 2 weeks ago, and they ended up doing a split night study. (I guess he met the parameters). The sleep center called him last week to come in for a mask fitting, and I asked him to get a copy of his study results and a copy of his script. When he came home...

Re: V.A. & your help
Thanks for your input..
I guess it is just like any other Dr & DME that it does depend on where your are, and the people that you are working with. I guess I'll just have to equip him with all of the usual notes and lists and see what happens.
Gumby CT, please check your pm's.

V.A. & your help
Hi, My father-in-law has just been diagnosed with OSA by the VA hospital. He is a full-time RV'er and I have some questions about machines and the VA. If you can offer your help I would appreciate it. Here are some of the things that I think He needs in a machine, but will the VA give him more than ...

Re: Newbie needs mask help
CardiMom, The first nasal pillows that I tried were the swift lt for her, and I also found that they WHISTLED and I felt like I could not get enough air. It was really hard to breath. I also have slotted nares. I then switched to the swift II and found that the pillows fit me much better, they did n...

Re: Which masks to carry?
My vote is for the Headrest, and activa masks. The activa is the most comfortable nasal mask that I have been able to find, although it does have a large footprint and is not great for people with a smaller face. The Headrest is my all time favorite mask. It is comfortable and is the first mask that...

Headrest pillow exchange???
Hi All, I have just started using the headrest and I LOVE IT! No straps across my face, can sleep on both sides without anything in the way. Yahoo!! I wonder if there is anyone who would like to trade pillows. I have a new unopened large headrest pillow and I am looking to trade it for a new medium ...

Re: Issues with CPAP Cost and Apria
It's an amazing thing! When you purchase your own equipment it comes with all the directions. They don't take the clinicians info out and hid it on you like the DME's do.
Best of luck

Re: any help please
Are you using your pap on straight c-pap or on auto? I started on straight c-pap at my titrated pressure of 14, and felt like poo! I was switched to an auto and find that I average 11.5. I do much better on an auto, and I felt the difference the first night. (just remember that if you are using an a...

Re: Have I Taken "Stupid" to A New High?
bjdare, I started this journey one year ago. My first titration was in March, and the second in April. I got my c-pap in May and was doing lousy. Thanks to this forum I learned that my so called sleep doctor knew less than I did when I went back for my 2 follow up appointments. I proceded to get cop...

Re: Issues with CPAP Cost and Apria
Hi Cathy, I had the same problem with Apria. I started with a C-pap and then the Dr changed me to an auto. Apria wanted to charge me an outrageous monthly fee for the upgrade. Through the many helpful people on this site I realized that It was much easier and cheaper to buy my own apap unit from c-p...

Re: Chubby Cheeks question
I also like the activa mask, but find it to be too long. But I just came from the resmed web site and it seems that they have come out with an activa LT that has a smaller foot print. Cpap.com does not seem to have it yet, but I did e-mail them about it. I think that this may be a winner!

Re: TERRIBLY CONFUSED!-CPAP/HIMIDIFIER/SWOLLEN ANKLES & WRISTS?
Hi, I started with cpap in May, and from the first day I had issues with swelling in my legs. All thought I have high blood pressure for several years before being diagnosed with OSA I have never had this problem. Even my husband (who never says, or notices anything bad about my appearance) said "ho...

Re: Swift II vs swift LT ...any suggestions ?
Thanks, I'll try that. I didn't really think about it at the time of the fitting since both masks were from resmed and I was using small pillow with both.

Re: Swift II vs swift LT ...any suggestions ?
I tried them on hooked up and laying down in bed, moving from side to side etc. Maybe the RT had it put together wrong, or had the wrong size set up. I don't know but i really liked the LT headgear much more, I just couldn't breath.
