Re: I hate you people....
Please Explain - why would there be less dry mouth/throat with taping than with FFM? Is that due to the pressure going down the mouth? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question from me! I use a FFM and was having problems with dry mouth and throat, so I started taping. No more dryness. I use a lit...

Re: ANY ADVICE FOR NIGHT WAKING???? HELP!!
Same thing here. I've been on the hose about a month. Woke up at 1:30am today. I have found that I best go back to sleep after I resign myself to the fact I don't have much choice but to go back to sleep, otherwise I will be lying there, breathing in and out, counting the seconds until it's "time to...

Re: another UPS/battery backup post
After reading a ton of threads on here I have a few questions. I'm thinking a UPS would be the best solution for the brown-out problem, but I don't know how to pick one that would work. All the UPS reviews are for computers. Something to remember about a UPS. It doesn't know or care what's plugged ...

Re: ResScan 3.5: Spikes on my leak chart
I get the same spikes. I can tell exactly what time I get up to go to the bathroom during the night (turn off the unit, take off the mask, take a walk, come back. Repeat if needed).

Questions: -Am I right in assuming that this seemingly mild sore back has caused the apnea events to go up over the last few days? -Why would a sore back contribute to increased airway restrictions? -Looks like I should put the min number back to 10... agreed? I don't know if the sore back has anyt...

Re: My first night asleep with cpap
Sorry to hear you're having issues, PS1951. Since we still don't know the equipment brand you're using, I'll just throw this out as a personal observation. I'm using a full face mask with the ResMed Elite II which has a function called EPR, which is supposed to make exhaling easier. After having the...

Re: Care and feeding of smart cards?
If using the card reader, it's not necessary to turn anything off before inserting or removing the card, either from the unit or the computer. If you are having trouble with the card not reading, take a pencil eraser and gently clean the contacts. If you'd like to have something around the house to ...

Re: ResScan 3.5 ?
Mine looks the same. I guess by definition a hypoxia is reduction in air by 50% or more for X about of time, so technically an apnea would an extreme hypoxia . I imagine it's just how the software was coded and how the unit crunches numbers.

Re: Resmed card reader
Undoubtedly I should have gotten an eraser ... just grabbed what I saw that would do the job without thinking about it. It is a very fine emory board and I just very lightly ran it over the contacts with little pressure. Regardless how you did it, it worked and you didn't spend any money. It also m...

Re: Which CPAP to choose? Resmed or Respironics
Got much lower AHI etc. than with my Resmed S8 although I'm not doing badly with it. My DME told me due to the algorithms used by the ResMed machines, they will show about twice the AHI other brands might show. I think he used the term "sensitive". I use my software monitoring more for trends than ...

Re: Resmed card reader
One of the best things likely to have around the house for cleaning circuit board contacts is a pencil eraser. It will get the oxidation off without doing any damage. Been in "the business" for many years. Always carried one of the pink, rectangular erasers. Never did wear one out completely.

Re: Can Sleep Apnea Be Cured By Diet and Exercise?
My cardiologist called less than an hour ago to see how I was doing on CPAP. I told him I was feeling better. We have an appointment scheduled for February. He said to stay on the CPAP and he wants me to be at 250lbs by then (I'm 270 now). He said when(if) I get to 220, I probably won't need CPAP. T...

Re: Is it possible to get "Too Much Sleep"?
My cardiologist called a little bit ago to see how I was doing with the CPAP . I never expected that call. He's the one who ordered the studies. I asked if he was the one calling the shots on the pressure changes. He told me it was a sleep specialist doctor doing it. I reminded him I was geeky and n...

Is it possible to get "Too Much Sleep"?
I never knew I had any problems sleeping until I was sent for a sleep study. I used to sleep four to six hours per night and thought I felt rested. Now that I have been on the CPAP for ten days, I am sleeping seven to ten hours per night and not getting up in the middle of the night. I actually thin...

Re: My DIY for remote OFF / ON for M-series Auto
The next step should be finding an older television chassis that has a problem in a deflection circuit and use the power relay to initiate the power for your xPAP. You can use other functions to control other functions. Then you'll have full infrared remote functionality.
