My CPAP unit does not have it's own built-in humidifier. Is it okay to use a household humidifier?

Sinusitis
I have sinusitis and find that CPAP therapy aggravates the condition. I'm thinking I should stop CPAP therapy until this condition clears up. How have others dealt with this?

My 2nd Night w/CPAP
I've spent two nights with my new CPAP machine. I'm glad I'm on vacation for the next two weeks.
I'm looking forward to getting used to it.
I'm using a nasal pillows mask.
My nose is sore from using it, but I guess I'll get used to that, too.

I get my new machine on Halloween
When I first tried it, I was in a fog the next day. I was glad I had the day off from work. I'm wondering if some CPAP users are temporary users or if it is, more often than not, a long term commitment.
I'm overweight, which makes me wonder if I only have to use it until I lose weight.
