Re: ACR38 Smart Card Reader troubleshooting
For the sake of future keyword searchers who have similar problems and stumble across this thread, here's a very helpful post I found from BillBolton when searching. It sounds like it really could be simply a matter of the software/card reader working on some system setups and not on others. by bill...

Re: ACR38 Smart Card Reader troubleshooting
first of all, I don't have ideas, but it does help since this seems to be a computer problem to post what version of windows you are using with what service pack etc. have you checked lately for spyware? viruses? Thanks. I'm using XP, Service Pack 3. I will try it on another PC when I have access t...

ACR38 Smart Card Reader troubleshooting
In a (perhaps misguided) attempt to save myself a few bucks, I got the ACS ACR38 card reader to use with the ResScan 3.7 software, rather than the proprietary ResMed smart card reader. My understanding from reading other threads on this forum is that the ACR38 is identical to the proprietary ResMed ...

Re: Help! CPAP mask emergency overseas
Also, there is a company that makes xPAPs and sells them in China. They also make masks. You can find their web site here: http://www.bmc-medical.com/en/web/newsInfo.asp?Id=86 Their contact info is below. I e-mailed them a few days ago to ask a question and they responded quickly. They also make nas...

Re: resmed software and clinician manual
Like the haxx0rz say ... information wants to be free. I'd say that is pretty much in line with the spirit of this forum.
Does anyone know if it is necessary to use a proprietary ResMed smart card reader to read the data cards? Would any smart card reader that fit the cards work?

Re: Chinese resmed?
FYI, for whoever's interested. I e-mailed a couple of DMEs in India and Thailand whose web sites showed they had this APAP for sale. They were both willing to ship, but would charge $1100-$1300. However, I also contacted the manufacturer and they sell demo units for quite a bit cheaper (you may have...

Re: Chinese resmed?
$370 for APAP, $240 for CPAP. Mask another $50. Wowzers! Darn near throw-away units. One of these outta be real suitable for back-up unit. Kajun Where did you get those prices? I didn't see one listed on the site. I've e-mailed a couple other suppliers to get quotes and to see if they ship internat...

Hey, wait a second. My wife said she was happy that my ResMed Autoset II w/ EPR wasn't "too big." Was she just being nice?

Re: Taking control of MY own care.....
Same here. I actually never saw a sleep doctor until I'd already been using CPAP for 6 weeks. I was a little pushy with the office assistant at first so I just got scheduled for a sleep study based on telling her about my symptoms. The office prescribed the CPAP based on that study and I was off. Wh...

Re: What is the correct filter for ResMed S8 AutoSet II
I agree that one should not trust one's DME on most things and that filters matter. Dusty air would probably be worse for you than for the machine. But I compared my ResMed branded filter with the one I got and it looked close enough to me. The package the filters came in said S8 on it, so that was...

Re: Why can't machine be 100%
I've been on apap now for a week and only started charting the efficiancy data. I'm curious is to why the machine doesn't eliminate all apneas/hypopneas one has during the night. I understand nothing is 100% perfect, but the amount of episodes that it doesn't help or fix seems high. I am just a new...

Re: Going Commando
JNK, Dreamstalker, Fortomorrow, and Oldlincoln ... All very convincing replies. Makes sense to me. And Fortomorrow, I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. The difference between how I feel now and how I felt two months ago is dramatic, and I wouldn't want to skip anyway, but I hadn't really consid...

Re: Going Commando
Let's not encourage people to skip cpap. I'm new to this and wouldn't presume to argue because I just don't know that much. But why not? I mean, i personally haven't skipped at all since starting therapy two months ago. But prior to that, I must have gone at least 10 years with undiagnosed apnea. I...
