Re: Stuffy nose question

I know individual experiences vary, but just to get mine out there ... I had a problem with the lining of my nose getting dried out and inflamed in the middle of the night, so that it felt like I was stuffed up. A couple of hours into sleep, I would sometimes find myself unable to get more than a tr...

Re: Software that is MAC compatible??

I've got a Mac too and I run the Resmed ResScan software on my Mac using Bootcamp and a copy of Windows XP. Kind of expensive to buy a copy of XP just to run one little program, of course. For the ethically flexible among us, one great option is to simply download XP via BitTorrent. If you don't kno...

My favorite: The top 5 details likely left out of the original post: 4. He won that bat at an anger-management/baseball camp run by Lou Piniella. I assumed it was a joke. I laughed. I think there's a little three-year-old in all of us when it comes to inanimate objects that won't do what their told.

Re: OT: Obama's Presidential Inaugural Address

I was impressed. I supported Obama all along though, so I'm biased. But I've got to say, it really rubbed me the wrong way when the crowd chanted "na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye" to Bush. Lord knows he wasn't my favorite guy, but he was still the president and deserved some respect. He may have b...

Re: Mouth sealed completely--AHIs go through roof

Wow. I love flame wars. In fact, my only complaint about this forum is that everyone's too damn nice (although I love that sometimes too). But I hadn't been around long enough to see what happens when a preachy sleep professional shows up. Flame on! Anyway, as a PAP newbie (three months under my bel...

Re: crying and frustrated

Just throwing in my $.02: hang in there!! It gets better. WAY better. If you can get through the transition period, you will start to feel comfortable with the equipment and you will feel much better during the day. I've been on it for three months. I'm still tinkering with masks and whatnot, lookin...

Re: CPAP Machine for sale

Hey SusieQ. As a newbie, and someone who still hasn't quite got the kinks ironed out, I'd just like to echo what the others are saying (with the caveat that no one knows for sure if you've quit CPAP or not). If you can get the thing working, life is SOOOOOO much better. You feel so much more energet...

Re: Activa mask pros and cons

I think so much of this mask stuff is luck and perseverance -- luck in that some faces just fit some masks better and perseverance in that you have to do a lot of tinkering before you find the best possible fit with any given mask. I've had the Activa for three days now and am absolutely loving it. ...

Re: Oximeter: Cost vrs Benefit

Is it true the O2 levels should always be the primary focus of therapy? My sleep study showed very little O2 desaturation (barely got below 90% once in the night, for a few seconds). I was dxed with moderate apnea and severe sleep fragmentation. As I understood it, the problem in my case was more ab...

Re: Do I really have Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

I think it's a great idea to get the software. I'm on a different make and model of machine, but I got the software recently and it's given me some useful information. It will really help if you need to increase your pressure at some point to really knock down that AHI. It sounds like you are a self...

Re: Anxiety ??

Interesting discussion. I have some anxiety too, mostly socially. I get super nervous when I have to give presentations at work, and even a little nervous just being in meetings. Have never liked parties. But that all predates CPAP. My observation (wishful thinking?) is that anxiety has been decreas...

And worked again on a Mac running a Windows emulator (XP SP2). Funny, pretty much the same experience as BillBolton -- works on 2 out of 3 computers, just not the first one I tried and wrestled with for 3 hours

Re: ACR38 Smart Card Reader troubleshooting

Sure enough ... loaded up the software on another laptop with Windows XP SP 2 and it worked fine. Some very minor fiddling to get the data card into the reader correctly, but it worked fine. Just to test, I kept the card in the same position and switched back and forth between the two laptops. It co...
