Re: Health Insurances Would Accpet Everyone IF .....
So I have to first admit I don't know much about politics or even if I have the right definition of socialism...but I can tell you that for the last 12 months (0k 11) we here in Massachusetts have been required to carry some sort of health coverage or pay a "penalty." In my case I would loose my inc...

Re: A question for doctors/med professionals re HR & SpO2
DSM, What has not been discussed yet is that Spo2 does not measure actual amount of oxygen in your blood but the capacity for the hemoglobin in your blood to transport oxygen..two separate by critically connected things. I've often heard the monitoring O2 sat is important but you only use it as a si...

PreemieRN sent you a PM with more info on the airways...wouldn't want to send a used one...they get pretty nasty being all the way back into the posterior pharynx!

Re: Is there a good infant mask available?
The NICU that I work for no longer uses CPAP masks on neonates for that exact reason we use posterior nasal pharynx prongs...essentially flexible silicone prongs that go in the nose and are routed through the sinuses to the back of the throat. They are taped externally like a gastric tube or a endot...

Re: options for a stomach sleeper?! (first post)
Victoria I have found that Loosening the straps on my Opus ie NOT over tightening them made an enormous difference in comfort in my septum and cheeks when trying to sleep on my belly. I added a basic chin strap from my DME that does nothing to keep my mouth closed but does keep the looser straps fro...

Re: Is there any electronic gadget for storing medical records?
Also keep in mind accessibility , what good will having your old records do if you need to give that info to a health care provider and they can't access it. For the few patients I've run across doing this a simple flash drive with the documents is a better option than some sort of "medical record s...

Re: Attn: whiners, complainers, quitters
As I have said before, the psychology of cpap involves personal introspection... CPAP requires one to step outside their routines and comfort zones, and in some cases to leave them behind, for good. well said...I'm here because I did that introspection decided to pull up my "big girl panties" and j...

Seven Successful Nights (days)
Thank you all so much for the help you gave last week, after months of this I finally used my CPAP for a full seven days successfully! Waiting on a working computer to install software to see how successful but my LCD screen is telling me my AHI is now an average of 3.1 over the last 7 days, it was ...

Sure...I'll even swab them...and run a culture...but be warned...I'm not exactly gentle with collecting samples! I'm much more used to suctioning them out of the lungs then swabbing them out of the throat!

Ah...so there is a trick to getting into those menus...I just need to point out that cpap machines are LESS end user friendly then ventilators what is the thinking in that...I could walk up to a random stranger and with two button pushes and a quick spin of a wheel whoops there goes your volume, rat...

Wow my DME must be worse than I thought, and it must vary in different parts of the country. I spend a lot of time with different DME providers for work as well. I got a here's the machine, you turn it on like this, read this book and call to talk to an RT if you want, follow up with the MD...BYE! I...

Re: Frustrated and need help please!
Ah...yes my samples of Pursleep were ordered yesterday...I can't wait! I'm totally embarrassed about how much help I am needing to figure this all out by the way...I'm an experienced respiratory nurse damn it. But this is all just so challenging. I even contemplated asking for a trach, for about two...
