I'm switching to APAP in a couple of days
After nearly 6-months on CPAP and still feeling crappy with not so great AHI numbers I'm going to try APAP. Met with my PCP, showed him my charts and described how I was feeling. He called for an overnight pulse-ox test before writing the scrip (I have one of those and have been watching my desats) ...

Re: Leak Rate Charts for ResMed Masks?
Thanks, all. Mirage Full it is. I scanned through the literature but missed the part telling compatibility.
JNK, thinks for the link. Perfect.

Leak Rate Charts for ResMed Masks?
Anybody know where I can find the leak rate charts for these ResMed masks? ULTRA (Ultra Mirage Nasal Mask) MIR FULL (Mirage Full Face Mask) ACTIVA (Mirage Activa Nasal Mask) SWIFT (Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows System) MIRAGE (Mirage Nasal Mask) STANDARD (Mirage Vista Nasal Mask) The ResMed S8 lists th...

Re: chin strapes don't work
I have tried several and have the best luck with the "DeLuxe". The wide strape is more comfortable and does a good job. My wife made a nice fleece covering for it and that eliminated the marks it was leaving on my face. I used this strap with the Opus 360 nasal mask and a couple of weeks ago switche...

Re: No more mouth taping!
I'm really liking the Deluxe Chinstrap better than the Topaz . . . Me too. I used the Topaz for a while but grew tired of the impression it left on the top of my head (because of the narrow band). I use the Deluxe now, with a modification: a fleece band (similar to a pad-a-cheek product)on the bott...

Re: Has anyone started an exercise program after starting CPAP
Actually, my exercise program has gone in the tank since going on CPAP. Before CPAP, I was driven. I had to be doing something, all the time. Always moving, couldn't relax. Started the day very early with about an hour on the treadmill mostly walking, then ending with about 10-minutes of running at ...

Re: How much is too much leakage- Update
. . . I slept about 9 hours, woke up at the 3 hr mark to go to the bathroom, didn't put the chin strap back on, was too tired and groggy to get it hooked up. . . . dorourke, it's much easier to resume your sleep session if you you stay "geared up" and just slip the hose off the mask for those middl...

Re: Pap-cap II Review
SleepGuy, Thanks for the thoughtful suggestions. I used the Topaz for a while, but moved on to the Deluxe because the wider band (across the top of my head) distributes the load better and doesn't deform my head! I did have the PapCap chin strap pulled pretty tight - that seems to be the tension req...

Re: Pap-cap II Review
I tried the papcap II last night and was disappointed. I used its chinstrap, and woke up about 1:30 becasue the front of the cap was down over my eyes and was irritating my eyelids. Throughout the night I had to keep pulling the back of the cap down to get the front of the cap up and off my eyes. I ...

Converter Cord & ResMed S8 with Humidifier
I've read enough here to know the ResMed DC-12V converter cord can be used to power the flow generator but not the H3i humidifier. According to In House Comments on cpap.com: "This is the only product that you should use to power the S8 machines from a DC source, unless you also use a heated humidif...

Re: Need suggestions!
Mitzi83, my first mask was an F&P FlexiFit 407 (nasal mask). After 2 nights with that mask the bridge of my nose was so badly irritated I could not wear it another night. Very red and sore, with some oozing. Also had the same irritation on my forehead where one of the headgear pads made contact. I t...

Re: Another dumb surge protector question
Every hotel I've been in has at least one night stand next to the bed with a clock an lamp plugged into a nearby receptacle. Unfortunately, that means you can't plug in the CPAP unless you un-plug the lamp or clock. To remedy that, I travel with a grounded 3-way splitter. I plug that into one of the...

Back sleeping vs. side sleeping
I get best results (apnea control) when sleeping on my side so that's where I spend most (aiming for all) of my sleep time. Side sleeping comes natural for me, so it's generally not a problem. But sometimes during the middle of the night I find myself on my back, or intentionally start out on my bac...
