Re: using an old BiPAP Synchrony

Thanks, Pugsy—I’ll get it straight one day!

After sleeping last night without a mask or machine, tonight I’ll have this Synchrony. I hope I’ve got it set close to what the REMStar was; I know the titration’s right, anyway.

But I’ll have to start looking at new machines soon. . . .

Re: using an old BiPAP Synchrony

That was my understanding, that it all started with the M series. My old REMstar came before that--I chose it specially because someone on this forum who took machines apart said the REMstars were better built than the Ms, but even he couldn't have known about the foam. And the Synchrony came before...

Re: using an old BiPAP Synchrony

Thanks, ChicagoGranny! It wasn't stored in a plastic bag, which would have been best. It was stored inside the house, in a box, however . . . definitely better than in a gardening shed! I checked the link, and yes, that indeed is the machine in question and the manual is just what I was looking for!...

using an old BiPAP Synchrony

I haven't posted in nearly 13 years, since I got a new REMstar BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex back in October 2008. But last night the machine wouldn't turn on. We'd had a 55-minute power outage in the afternoon, which may have had something to do with it. I'm guessing the problem is with the machine, not ...

Re: Dismayed by cpap.auction

Willie, my guess is that the seller decided the item might do better if he or she got rid of the reserve and simply changed the auction terms so that it started at that price, or just below it. Hard to say without asking the seller, though. It's sure not the worst thing I've seen a seller do. I've n...

Re: Should CPAPtalk Filter Or Allow The Dental Device PR Spam?

Johnny, I think you'd be perfectly just in blocking those posts. I like the fact that the forum's not censored, but those posts are spam, pure and simple. They're not only advertisements for a product available from a single source (albeit with many store fronts, apparently), but also free advertise...

Re: Remstar Bipap Auto (Tank style) question

some guy had a listing on eBay for a BiPap Auto carry case with a surprise inside with a buy it now of $300. I knew eBay wouldn't leave it on there very long, so I e-mailed him to see how many hours on machine . When he said only 250hrs I hit the buy button. eBay unlisted the auction 2 hrs after I ...

Re: Sillivan Comfort Bilvel

I asked the RT at the DME about a years ago if they could adjust it and she said she doesn't have a manometer. Maybe the sleep lab has one but with the new machines, and this is a 3 or 4 year old sleep lab, I have a feeling they never needed one. My sleep lab has one, and the tech checked my old Tr...

Re: Has anyone started an exercise program after starting CPAP

I used to ride my bike fairly regularly--though nothing like Carbonman!--but until I switched from CPAP to BiPAP a few weeks ago, I hadn't really had the energy to do much of anything. But just yesterday I ordered some snowshoes for me and my four-year-old. My wife already has some, and I'm hoping w...

Re: Sillivan Comfort Bilvel

After my last sleep study, it was determined I needed 11/9 [. . .] So, my first question is, how do you set it the Sullivan? It has 7 adjusting ports labeled from T1 to T7. However, I can only see screws in T1, T2, T6 and T7. I looked through my PDF collection (thank you, rested gal!) of xPAP guide...

Re: Spoke Too Soon

Dynamite, I think we all have bad nights every so often. That you had a good night says something's going right. Goofproof is right about mouth-breathing: any significant amount of that and your therapy's going right out the window. Some folks learn to keep their mouth shut while sleeping, but many ...

Re: xPAP and Deteriorating Vision

Hello, Colin. I can't say if there's a connection between your CPAP use and your deteriorating vision, but there have been other posts recently of links between CPAP and various eye problems. I've also read that there are some links between obstructive sleep apnea and vision problems--for instance, ...

Oh, Snoredog. . . . Christen and Ali, your father was a great help to many people, including me. I was a newcomer to this list, and your father was one of the folks who helped me understand my therapy better. Just two days before he left us, he posted a very helpful reply to one of my long, involved...

Re: I am now DME-free!

Very, very cool, Jeff! My current HMO is partial owner of the only DME they let me use (though that DME has many offices in this area). They'd never let me use cpap.com instead, I know. That's one of the big reasons we're switching to a different HMO come January 1. The new HMO uses various DMEs, I ...

Re: This dosn't make sense?

The last 2 nights I did not change any settings. The first night I got to an AHI of 5.4, VS=.7, Leak = 36.5. The next night all I did was tape my mouth and I got an AHI of 10.1, VS= 4.3, Leak = 33.74. Why would I do worse after taping my mouth?? How could I have more VS after taping? Plus I did fee...
