Swift fx. Minimum pressure is set at 15.4 and I don't have any trouble at all.

Re: Are masks interchangeable with machines?

Thanks, Harley and Pugsy I think I'm going to have to get professional help. They've set my pressure at 8, which is for the full face mask. When I try this nasal thing, the pressure shoots through my nose like a tornado. Then I MUST open my mouth to expel it. Maybe I can't tolerate anything but the...

Re: One week on cpap and aggravated

I did have the muscle soreness after I started. I got it again when my pressure went up a year or two later. Its no different than soreness you would get if you started lifting weights for the first time. With that said. [disclaimer]If you're having chest pains make sure you talk to your doctor to m...

Re: Tap water not a good idea

Like I said in an earlier reply I wouldn't argue with anyone over it. It's your money. I just figure for under a dollar a month I'll go ahead and use what the manufacturer says you should use. It's worth a buck to me to not have to soak it in vinegar a couple times a year. I might rethink my positio...

Re: Chest pain/Lung pain caused by C-PAP?

Keep in mind I'm just some guy on the internet you'll never meet who might be 9 years old as far as you know so think about that before you decide whether or not you want to take medical advice from me. As others have said. Check with the doctor to make sure serious conditions are ruled out. With th...

Re: Tap water not a good idea

Distilled water costs about a dollar a gallon depending on where I buy it and I can't go through more than about a gallon a month. I just top off the container every night. Maybe I'm just financially blessed but I can swing a dollar a month. Whatever floats your boat. I'm not going to argue with any...

Re: I guess it's a good thing I got an autopap

Is there any reason to look at BiPap when I tolerate what I have now with no trouble? I don't even have the exhalation relief turned up all the way. I have it on the lowest setting. As i mentioned. I'm pretty much used to the pressure at this point. It hasn't bothered me for years.

Re: Chin straps - what do you think?

I've been using this thing for about five years now. http://www.pur-sleep.com/products/products.asp?category=6 The funny thing is that I wear it very loosely. I don't have it adjusted even close to being tight enough to keep me from opening my mouth but just having it there keeps me from opening my ...

I guess it's a good thing I got an autopap

I just got an upgrade to a Resmed S9 Autoset. I've had a Respironics M Series Cpap with a pressure of 15.5 for the last five years. I set 15.4 as my minimum since I'm comfortable with that pressure and was pretty sure I needed it. I actually tried 15 the first night and had some pretty bad and long ...

Re: made it through 2 nights so far

I personally think the ramp only makes thinks worse for me. I never liked it. My pressure is 15.5 which sounds like a lot and it is. I got used to it and it really doesn't seem like anything out of the ordinary any more. The one good thing about the higher pressure is if I have any airway open at al...

Getting new machine: Advice on settings

Hi All I'm getting a new machine. There's nothing wrong with the one I have but it has nearly 14k blower hours on it so my doctor and insurance approved a new one. I'm getting a Resmed S9 Autoset which the doctor (without talking to me about it) wrote the prescription for a low of 5 and high of 20. ...

Re: How do I condition myself to use the CPAP machine?

Just keep at it. It sounds like you are already getting a little better adjusted. It took me a couple weeks to really get comfortable when I started about five years ago and I think I would have a panic attack if I had to sleep without the machine now.

Thanks for the suggestions. This should be enough to get started with. I had actually found the wordpress link from above but it says "as of September 2011" so assumed it wasn't up to date.

Time for a new machine

It's been about five years on my machine so I've decided it is time to try to get a new machine and have my current machine as backup. I don't see any up to date lists for what the current preferred machine is now. I am currently using straight CPAP with pressure 15.5 and would like to have full dat...
