Re: nocturia

I have brought this to the attentio of several urology folks and suggest that too many of their male patients are being misdiagnosed with BPH- benign prostatic hyperplasia. They have osa- NOT BPH. GERD or reflux also miraculously goes away with PAP treatmen- ADH is the culprit. 1. The urologist sho...

How about this ? The pressure supply by the APAP is actually "Low", from 4cmH2O to 20cmH2O only. The machine actually produce a continous flow once it is started. When you purposely "resist" the flow to produce "an apnea", it will just need 4cmH2O to stop the flow,(If you set the minimal pressure at...

Many people died in sleep. But, exactly how much OSA is to be blamed for ? Not clear. There is a case report recently, an old lady died in her sleep while she was doing her sleep study. The study showed that she stopped breathing then the heart beat became slower and slower and finally stopped beati...

If the "O" in OSA stands for obstruction, I'm not clear why removing the obstruction will only address the symptoms. "Obstruction" itself can not totally explain what happen in OSAS. It's a matter of "collapse" of the upper airway in OSAS. During sleep, OSA patient's "upper airway" are prone to "co...

Unfortunately, the E 83 error recurred again.
After changing the minimal pressure from 5cmH2O to 5.6cmH2O, it worked again.
However, I am not going to take the risk anymore. I will contact Respironics for replacing of the blower and reconditioning the PCA board.

SWS,
Thank you very much.
There is really a tiny leakage in the hose.
The E-83 is resolved after sealing the leakage.

REMstar Auto Error E 83

My REMStar Auto has been used for 2900hours. Recently(actually almost every night), after starting the flow for about 10-20sec, a beeping tone will be heard. The LCD showed E 83. At first, the problem will be solved by unplug and re-plug the power cord. However, this didn't work last night. I have t...

Not all doctors know about Sleep Apnea. Not all doctors who know Sleep Apnea know how to treat. Sleep Medicine is a "baby" in the field of medicine. Most doctors graduated 5 years ago did not heard about OSAHS, because it was not written in their textbook at that time! It's true, at least here in ou...

Bugs in REMStar Auto Encore pro Smartcard?

When I retrieved the data from the Smartcard this month, something strange happened. The recorded date is 3 days in advance. (ie 29 Nov become 2 Dec) and the time also went wrong. (PM -- > AM). The worst thing is there is no way to correct this problem. I am not able to reset the date and time. Anyo...
