Re: another success story

I'm a success story, too. I started using the CPAP 4 yrs ago this summer.....under durress!!!! I didn't believe I had a problem until the doctor showed me that I aroused 100 times an HOUR!!!! Okay -- a little adjustment time - not much ---- and now when I go to bed, I give DH a hug, a kiss and curl ...

Re: Floor or table?

LOL LOL I HAVE to say this. I've had my machine on the floor for 3 years.....it's not dustier than the table!!! LOL You see...we live in the high desert and if I don't dust and vacuum every week, then we can write our name on the tables!!!! Yes, our home is an energy efficient home....it's just the ...

Re: Humidifier Malfunctioning?

One thought....is your room cold? If so, do you have a "sock" over the tubing? Could be that it's warming hot enough, but cooling on the way to the mask.

Re: My experience with Apria

It must be a location thing. My Apria dealer not only had billing issues, but they refused to give me more than one nasal cushion per month. Finally, because I was on the road, called and talked to my insurance company and found they had NO issue with me getting 6 months at a time. They gave me a 1-...

Re: resmed swift lt nasal mask

I use that mask, too. Press in on the nose piece with one hand and move the "ear" part up toward your forehead more. Do the same on the other side. It takes some time to figure out exactly how it should fit. Good luck.

Re: rudeness from doc's office staff (rant)

It took me 2 weeks......LOL I was in such shock about having SA that I just nodded yes to everything they said. My ins. company was wonderful about paying, too. To say I was in shock was an understatement. I could've SWORN I had NO problem! You see...I'd just gotten married the summer before and I k...

Re: rudeness from doc's office staff (rant)

I've worked in hospitals and doctor's offices. I have had 2 husbands that ended up with severe terminal illnesses with LOADS of hospitalizations. I came to the conclusion a LONG time ago that I pay their wages......they NEED me or other patients to make money. What she did is inexcuseable.....and sh...

Re: That first night of sleep is eluding me now

Turn the clock around so you can't see it!!!! Seriously! Your body may have programmed yourself to wake so often, too..... Yes, when you get the right pressure and the right machine you'll do better. I've been on one for 3 years....I still wake once in a while but for the most part I sleep all night...

Re: That first night of sleep is eluding me now

Good deal! Sounds like an improvement! I still will wake up occassionally -- sometimes because of mother nature and other times because of the cold. I purchased an electric bed pad and turn it on when it's going to be really cold out. Sometimes I just turn it on when I wake up cold. Then I'm all snu...

Re: Chest pain when sleeping on left side

kteague's response reminded me of something. While working for the doc we had a patient coming in constantly with excruitiating headaches. She's scream and wreathe in pain. They did every test imaginable in the 60s. One day her DH came home and found her out by the clothesline passed out. She'd gone...

Re: Cleaning CPAP Equipment

Okay. I have an M Series with a humidifier. I'm pretty good about rinsing out my humidifier tank, but it's usually just before I refill it. Tonight I noticed red deposits in the tank which I assume are algae. This is the first time I've ever seen this. I scrubbed off most of it with my fingers unde...

Re: I'm a believer!

I've had the same experience!!!! Decided not to take it with me -- mainly because I still didn't believe that quack I was seeing and didn't think I had SA.....so went to mom's for 3 nights. On the second day, I knew I'd made a mistake and that quack was right!!!

Re: Chest pain when sleeping on left side

It could be you've had a congenital problem all your life -- hence they think you're hypochondriac. I worked for a doctor who firmly believed there are NO hypochondriacs!!! He said either we haven't found the problem or the problem is mental....either way, it's real to the patient! Now -- you could ...

Re: What the 'flip' is going on?

Just an added note....regarding the humidifier. We live in the high desert - no humidity to speak of (DRY DRY DRY!)...so my setting is high. When we go visit family in the vally where humidity is high, I have to lower the setting.....So just because today it's set at 3 doesn't mean that's what you n...
