Thanks, Pugsy & John. I'll post a new thread with my prob in a few more days/when I have some data to share.
I appreciate the responses!
Warmly,

Re: ResMed S9 VPAP Adapt ASV 36037 vs 36007
No flaming, please!!!! I was on the ResMed BiPap machine, but was showing centrals ever since I began taking prescription pain medicine. (I was diagnosed with a chronic condition which causes chronic pain, so the meds will most likely be an ongoing thing, since they allow me a somewhat normal life--...

Re: !!CENTRALS!! Probs w/my bilevel
My most recent sleep study was about 6 months ago. I am on auto bipap, and the pressure is set between 4 and 15 I think. I begin breathing very shallow, and re-set the parameters to begin at 4cm, but I think the original rx was 7. 7 is just too forceful for me to begin with, and would cause me to fe...

!!CENTRALS!! Probs w/my bilevel
Hi, everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted, and awhile since I've used pap therapy! If you read some of my former posts, you'll see that I have a quirk: I have an aversion to air blowing at me. (If you are Freud-inclined,) we can trace this back to childhood roots. My mother always cautioned u...

Re: Should I consider BiPap
Thanks for your replies!! Opening my vent holes did seem to help me with exhaling. My thoughts: Since I neither inhale nor exhale with much force, and is probably even less forceful when sleeping, my exhalation didn't have time to leave the ports before it was time to take the next breath. Since I e...

Re: Should I consider BiPap
Mary--changing your Ti--isn't that only possible to do with a bipap machine? I have a ResMed S8 autopap (not bipap) machine. I don't think I can change a Ti pressure with that one, right (??) UncleBill: I'm not sure that altering my mask has negated therapy. It has allowed more air to enter and then...

Should I consider BiPap
Hi, I've been an on-again off-again cpap user for a few years now. I have an apap machine, and a mask that fits and feels relatively comfortable. (I've tried many masks, but the Resmed Fx seems to work best.) I've tried non-pillow nasal masks, but I don't like the feeling of the air blowing around m...

Re: Hose management with nasal pillow
I find if mine goes up over my head, it leaks non-stop! I have to keep mine laying around me.. Hi, Wittymomma. If you're fine with the hose laying on your bed, then that's great! But if you'd rather have it going over your head, here are a couple tips to make it work: Leave a little slack in the ho...

Re: Sleepweaver leak rate
Thanks, Pugsy, I apologize for omitting something: I do have an "Aussie heated hose," and it seems to still be working. I also sewed a hose cozy for the sleepweaver lightweight hose to help insulate it. That being said, I do not crank up the heat of the humidifier very high. I thought that would may...

Re: Hose management with nasal pillow
I have this exact mask and I route the hose over my head. I have my hose running over a swivel plant hook, and I use a velcro strap to hold the hose to the plant hook. That longer hose attaches to the Resmed hose. After I have the Resmed FX mask on, I swivel the FX hose upwards, and attach a hose cl...

Re: Sleepweaver leak rate
Thanks for the explanation, Pugsy. My machine is set for the standard mask, so it looks like the leak rate is borderline acceptable per your explanation. (I didn't get out the pamphlet to research out the expected leak rate and do the subtaction.) Now to the other issue: Any hints on how to warm up ...

Re: Sleepweaver leak rate
I do find it stays sealed the best when I use my chinstrap; seems to keep headgear from slipping around so much. I think the SW mask probably leaks more like a FFM thab a nasal, so I set my mask type to the FFM choice. It doesn't actually change anything, except it makes it look better so I won't b...

Re: Sleepweaver leak rate
I just ordered/rec'd the sleepweaver mask from cpap.com. The site says it's the "new and improved seal," so I'm assuming that's what I rec'd. I did try the tips about adjusting the mask a little to the left, then a little to the right after it's already on. It feels like there is a slight leak out t...

Sleepweaver leak rate
Hi! I haven't posted in ages, so please forgive me! I recently purchased the Sleepweaver mask, with the newly redesigned headgear. The mask is quite comfortable, that's why I'm dying for it to work for me! I read the adjustment tips, watched the video, etc. and tried the different tips. Still I have...
