Re: Sorry to Report My Mom Has Passed

Your mom and I shared birthdays... May she R.I.P. Looks as though she had a long and full life! You are lucky to have had her for so long and I'm sure she left tons of memories for you. You have my condolences during this difficult time.

Re: OT - Do any of you use a web cam

You can C2C using Yahoo or MSN IM and even works on dial up (though not great). Those programs are free but of course they each need a web cam. Not sure of the "simplicity factor" but you might be able to setup a simple link or shortcut that would take her right into it... Hope this helps....

Re: UM II Mask and Congestion

All great suggestions - thanks! I never thought of turning the humidity DOWN when congested - always thought I needed more humidity when stuffed up. The nettie pot looks interesting as well - may have to order one and see how it goes. As I've gotten older, my sinuses have gotten worse and worse - ma...

Re: UM II Mask and Congestion

I have the UMII. I have been using the same seal for over a year and my leak rate has been perfect the last three nights. And while I wash my face every night I don't wash the mask every day. As long as you are not having a lot of leak trouble you can keep using the same cushion, although the peopl...

Re: UM II Mask and Congestion

I'm pretty new to PAP, but since no one has answered I'll at least acknowledge you . It seems like many recommend seal replacement every 6 months. I suspect this can vary a lot, so you may be about due. On the congestion, are you using humidification? Have you made any changes to your system? If yo...

UM II Mask and Congestion

Question for anyone using a UM II nasal mask - how often do you replace the mask? Not the whole thing, but just the rubber (or whatever it is) around the frame. I've had mine about 5 months and wash it religiously but I'm wondering if its wearing out or loses it elasticity or anything like that and ...

Re: Newbie - Needs some straight talk... NOW!

Thanks again to everyone who continues to POST! I feel like I have so many friends here after just a few days! A few comments: GOOSE - I'm not afraid of a little controversy either. A spirited conversation is always energizing to me. I just don't want someone to feel like they SHOULDN'T give their o...

Re: Newbie - Needs some straight talk... NOW!

Looks like I kicked off a little controversy - I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I'm happy to take ALL suggestions and try them and keep the ones that are effective for me and discard the ones that aren't but EVERY OPINION IS VALID. I've also decided that I will start a NEW thread as my journey begins. I'...

Re: Newbie - Needs some straight talk... NOW!

GREAT words of encouragement continue to pour in - thanks so much to everyone! Seems many people here are more interested in my success than my doctor. A few comments: GUEST - thanks for your comments. I DID in fact fill out a lengthy questionnaire for my sleep doctor informing him of the memory, co...

Re: Newbie - Needs some straight talk... NOW!

WOW WOW WOW!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I just logged back on after watching the Steelers pull out a close one over the Vikes (I actually stayed awake to the end!) to see if anyone had read my post yet - I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT - 8 REPLIES! I literally had tears in my eyes! What a great bunch of...

Newbie - Needs some straight talk... NOW!

First let me say - what a great forum this looks like. I definitely will be referring here often and it looks like a great community of helpful folks. I just hope I found you in time. Now my story.... "I was born a poor black child..." OK that's from The Jerk with Steve Martin so I still haven't tot...
