Re: Floating white "scum" in my humidifier
I have begun to get floating white scum or something in my humidifier. I washed it with vinegar two weeks ago and it has come back. So does anyone know what that might be? I use distilled water and just add to it when needed. Is thsi because o fthe summer temps or old water? I usually buy 3 gallons...

Has anyone used a nasal pillow mask @ press. of 19 or more?
I currently use a Liberty. I hate the conventional full face masks because they leak around the eyes and leave painful pressure sores on the bridge of my nose. The Liberty has worked well for me, but I'm still not happy. Does anyone have experience with using a nasal mask with CPAP at a pressure of ...

Re: Can you use a chinstrap with full face mask?
Can someone please explain to me why you'd use a strap or anything else to keep your mouth closed if you're wearing a FF mask? The whole point of the mask is to ALLOW you to open your mouth without fear of losing the 'good' air. Am I missing something? I use an UM FF myself. I can understand your c...

Re: Can you use a chinstrap with full face mask?
I have the Mirage Ultra and also the Comfort Full Gel mask, both size mediums (also large in Gel one). My chin sits back so when I fall alseep my jaw drops back and mouth springs open. Dr told me the other day that full face can force mouth to open. ... I use full face masks at high pressure (19 cm...

Re: Mirage Liberty
Hummer3d is right about the size of the pillows. I found I have the least leaking if I use the largest pillows that will fit in my nares. For me that's the med size, but I still have them pop out from time to time. I fixed that by putting a strip of Johnson & Jonson first aid tape across my nose and...

Re: VPAP III and Activa mask
Correct. I use the VPAP III in CPAP mode myself and can confirm there is no exhale relief if set that way and the machine is functioning correctly.tattooyu wrote:Thanks Sleepydragon, I set the machine to CPAP, but I'll double check to be sure. Just to clarify, in CPAP mode there should be no exhale relief?

Re: VPAP III and Activa mask
I got this from the user manual ... Respiratory = Number of breaths per minute VT = Tidal volume: Volume of air inhaled per breath (units: milliliters per breath) MV = Minute ventilation: Volume of air inhaled per minute (units: liters per minute). It is the product of respiratory rate and tidal vol...

Re: VPAP III and Activa mask
Hey there, my friend's wife is getting a new machine, so he is going to start using her older VPAP III (in CPAP mode) to get some data for him at last. I have set his machine to match his old machine (11.0 cm) so we can see if his current settings are working for him. The choices for mask are: STAN...

Re: Full face masks for 18 cm pressure?
I use a Liberty with a pressure of 19. It was quite a challenge, but I eventually got it to work. To keep it from hurting your nose, make sure to use the small mouth cushion and keep it low over your mouth (down toward your chin). I had the same problem as you when I was using the large cushion, the...

Re: Mirage Liberty questions
I've been using the Quattro ffm for the past two weeks, but the forehead strap aggravates an inflamed nerve in my forehead. I kept a bit of padding under the forehead strap and loosened it to try and alleviate with the Quattro ffm, but I had to fight leaks all night. I just called my DME and they a...

Re: liberty hybrid mask issues
HOw often does everyone replace the face piece around the mouth? I have been using my Liberty mask for about a month and it has started to leak in the middle of the night. It's not a huge leak usually just a small one on the side but it is really annoying at 3am. Does anyone have any thoughts? Than...

Re: Would you buy a used mask?
Its a great way to try different masks without spending a lot of money. Even if a DME provider allows a 30 day trial (some don't), you have to buy one at full price in the end. Also, I've used three different DME providers and none of them had a very large selection of masks. There is a huge selecti...

My GP said if they were not migraines, the imetrex wouldn't work. It works. For twenty years I had cluster headaches and they disappeared when I got my first CPAP. I don't know understand what "what your AL " means. If it is pressure, I am currently at 14. Thanks for your response Yep, If Imetrex w...

We saw each other there! I was sitting center, back wall.
I hope they bring the new PAPcap. I have the old one and love it, but I'd like to see if I should buy the new model.
