It is recommended and most insurance carriers provide for you to have your filter and hose replaced every month. They will also pay for a new mask every 6 to 12 months. Hey Bigcat, take a look at how you are cleaning your equipment also. I used to keep a cold until my RT recommended a product called respiclean. Hi Fern, Mike is exactly right. Take a break! when you're ready try using the unit while you're awake, use it for a couple of hours before you go to bed while watching tv. I have found a cleaner that works great. I have used vinegar and water because that is what my therapist suggested, but I'm not aware that vinegar has any disinfectant properties. Besides, I think it smells bad. The cleaner I found was created by a MD who has to wear CPAP himself. Check out the link...
