Re: FREE PurSleep (Aromatic) Samples
Another big fan of Pur Sleep here, been using it since about a month after I started CPAP and I definitely prefer the scents of the oils to the silicone smell of new masks and tubing. My personal favorites are the citrus scents (Deep and Fresh), the creme, and from the air candy line the strawberry,...

Re: newbie question
Talked to sleep specialist and DME, they adjusted my pressure up to 7 yesterday, and the RT is putting together some cost information for me to trade back my current Resmed S8 Compact for either a Resmed Elite II, a Resmed Autoset II, or a Respironics M Series Pro (for which I would also have to buy...

Re: newbie question
I posted the PSG data to hopefully shed more light on the issues from my original post. I did not get a chance to call my sleep doc yesterday but I should be able to do so today, and I wondered if perhaps the community here could help suggest questions and comments to best shed light on the problem ...

Re: newbie question
Scanned in PSG reports as editable text, graphs didn't carry through and of course formatting vanished when i cut/pasted, but here's the basic idea. Hope it's not too much gibberish, I was having trouble finding a way to host the images as .tif or .pdf so they would be accessible here. KIRON Overnig...

Re: newbie question
just got back from a week out of town, I will call the sleep doc tomorrow and see what he says. I actually already have the results from my PSG (they gave me copies of everything at my next appointment with the sleep specialist) and will scan them in at work tomorrow to see if anything therein can h...

newbie question
I've been on CPAP for about 3 months now. I adjusted very quickly to wearing the mask and having the pressurized air, almost overnight. I'm comfortable with my mask, having the Resmed Mirage Swift II and LT to choose between (honestly I think I prefer the II even though I tend to be a side sleeper, ...

Re: what questions should I ask for at the sleep clinic
My clinic techs had the same limitation, though they did call me back to have me in for the titration study less than a week later, the night before my appointment with the doc to go over the results from the first study. If your clinic is competent and your case warrants it they can have you back b...

Re: Poll - Who must have TOTAL darkness to sleep?
If I'm tired enough I can sleep in nearly any light (and I have many times; I used to work 3rd shift). This is fortunate for me as we have a cat who cannot resist breaking mini-blinds, so we have to leave all the blinds raised high enough she can stand under them on the window sill. I mention this b...

Re: New Sleep Study and funy how priorities change
oooh, that DME does sound heavenly indeed! The titrated sleep study sounds similar to my own experiences (<3 my sleep doctor and the clinic he works for, they're all wonderful). My DME is a far cry better than most I've heard stories about but yours sounds like a dream come true! I want to visit a p...

Re: Leak Reduction in the Swift LT
I started with a Swift II, then about a week and a half ago switched to the Swift LT. I definitely noticed the difference in that the LT takes more fine-tuning to adjust right each night because the material of the nasal pillow is more flexible, but I also noticed I had less leaks when I loosened th...

Re: Weekly Mask Cleaning---OverKill ???
Being clean is simple common sense, and thus keeping our equipment clean is as well. However, being a major germophobe leaves the body with no way to resist or fight back when things do make it into your system, because it has not had a chance to build up resistances and antibodies and such. My mom ...

Re: humidifier cleaning
my RT suggested using a bottle brush (I have a resmed humidifier, too). She also said a gentle dishwasher soap would be a good cleaner, which I have found to be true. Plus it smells so much nicer than vinegar.

Re: I am SO frustrated
I, too, advocate the lack of lubrication. In fact, you should clean the skin around the nose of any make-up, oils, lotions, etc in preparation for sleep. the clean skin helps with a proper seal and if your nose-holes are irritated from the mask, you can try adjusting your humidifier setting up and/o...

Re: Is this Normal? - DME Related
My sleep doctor automatically sent a copy of my sleep study to the DME along with my prescription before I ever got there. I've been extremely fortunate with my GP (who paid attention to the symptoms I listed and immediately referred me for a sleep study); my sleep doctor and his clinic staff who ha...
