Alsal: Yours is not a new problem. Many years ago I responded with a great answer to another poster on another forum concerning this issue. Personally, it is one of those that I got lots of great comments on for years. Thus I pondered - should I just cut and past in what I wrote before - or link to ...

I believe you are all over-reacting. The provision was in the "Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act" for fiscal year 2006 and is labeled "Preventing Cyberstalking." This is not aimed at free speech, anonymous posting, etc. It's aimed at stalking. While the supreme cou...

Actually, it is not illegal to annoy. Just to annoy anonymously... There was a big discussion on this on another forum several weeks ago that I stumbled on (not sure which forum). If I recall correctly this new language was inserted into the section of laws regarding sexual and other harassment and ...

Over 6 years ago the insurance company I was with covered the APAP, software, heated humidifer with permanent chamber, and 3 different mask when I was getting started. Today, the insurance company I am with would not cover it (in fact - they don't even cover FF mask and my local DME has refuses to o...

Suzy: Unfortunately you have stumbled into a common occurence: A Sleep Lab or Dr directs you to a "preferred" DME, and that DME has signed an exclusive deal with one of the major supplies. In most states you are allowed to choose your DME. You should not have any problems with any of the current mas...

The script I have recommended for years is "AutoCPAP with software & Heated Humidifier" Of course, I predate when the software was readily available - and most of the APAP companies had the software listed as a prescription item (that is the choice of the Mfr when they apply for permission to the FD...

Something that works for some (not all), and I can testify that it has at least helped me - is to prop the head of the bed up 2 to 4 inches (I use pieces of a 2x6).

The very slight incline angle is enough for some people's body to automatically "close" the throat to the stomach.

Thanks for the tip on the heated hose. I had heard it was available late last year but things in general work and I was busy concentrating on other things.

I will add it to my "desired purchase" list. At least for the start of the year I have to watch my money.

Severeena: When I travel by car I often take other things - including at times distilled water. When flying a lot of those extras are left at home. Griff: The rope has many uses.... However, what I usually use it for relates to ensuring the hose is run in such a manner that the condensed water in it...

Traveling with PAP…

As I was packing things up in Chicago this morning to return home I was thinking about how many people routinely travel for 1 – 2 week trips with their PAP machine and if anyone had really posted about how to do that and cover for things that can go wrong. I have not searched all the forums (and hav...

Rested Gal posted a good summary above. Most machines will work with most people. The two issues for a minority of people are both under-responding and runaway (over responding). Some of the runaway can be caused by water in a pressure sensor tube. Some runaway is caused by untreated asthma or other...

Not sure how new the basic concept really is (trying to determine patient specific precursors); but they are correct in that I doubt anyone else has patented using "RMS" analysis before. It looks like to me that the intent is to build a patient specific profile based on analysis of a patients flow p...

Jerry Ask: But, assuming the machine is 'reading' me, am I likely to notice a difference in the way I feel going from an average AHI of 2.0 to !.0? Just depends, doesn't it on how well the machine is 'reading' me. But, practically, what is the advantage of reducing the disturbances by one per hour....

Peels ask: Can too low of a setting on an APAP be a problem? Absolutely. Setting it too low allows a lot more significant events to occur - which disrupts your sleep a lot more. You want the minimum setting to be at a point where the minimum setting takes care of most of the lessor problems and onl...
