Re: Low REM during sleep study means?

cowlypso - Thanks. JohnBFisher - Very interesting about the muscle tone and low REM helping confirm. I like knowing why! Interesting about dreaming when blinking! archangle - Everyone thought it was funny how I brought 2 pillows from home. Probably helped me sleep more. I should have brought my blan...

Low REM during sleep study means?

I'm still confused if I have a REM related disorder. I did get diagnosed with OSA but the doc seemed surprised that study showed I qualified for CPAP. He started to say I was fine, then he looked at the papers for a minute, and said I needed it. I feel like he was assuming I was fine, but realized h...

Re: Dreams of choking

During my sleep study, I had a dream of choking. In the dream, I was in bed and sat up and tried to get assistance from someone and couldn't make any noises to get their attention.

Health problems and sleeping too heavily?

Normally people assume that's it's so good that I sleep heavily, but I feel I am sleeping too heavily and it's due to health problems. And it probably helps increase certain problems too. I was wondering what are reasons I might sleep too heavily? And what problems it might cause? For me, it is NOT ...

Selling mask liners?

I was talking with a friend of mine, and he is possibly interested in making and selling mask liners that are affordable and function well. They would be cut precisely to fit your particular mask model. (I was complaining that I couldn't find inexpensive good ready made ones.) I was hoping to get so...

Re: Whats the average time most users wear cpap a night????

Wow, 7.5 hours on average from people here. I would say the average is far, far lower if you were to look at all people prescribed an xPAP. Because in real life I had a friend who used his maybe four times a month (each time I'm sure he pulled it off within a few hours). And my friend's friend hardl...

Second mask? Replacing parts out of pocket?

One tiny part fell off my mask (valve+clip) and I haven't located it. My DME said my insurance company won't cover the replacement part. Buying it online out of pocket would be maybe $14 shipped, not a big deal. But there is another part of the mask ($12) which seems to come loose and it would be ni...

Therapy timeline

Newbie question, I suppose. After obtaining an xPAP for the first time, what should I typically expect? It seems to me that the docs would just want to see you every couple months, to make sure you are using it, and that you don't have questions. And then occasionally, the need for another overnight...

"No naps" recommendation?

I've always heard that naps were so great, sort of like getting twice as much effectiveness out of your time, if you take them in the afternoon and it's not too long and so on. But my sleep doc says I absolutely shouldn't nap. Maybe he only says this for people who have trouble falling asleep and/or...

Re: ResScan 3.4 Data

Thanks, Bill, maybe it will work if I use that method, for some reason.

You mean the ResLink option, right? For getting more data, are there other options?

Re: ResScan 3.4 Data

Yeah, strange. I did download it into the same patient profile, and attempted a second profile even. Thanks though! Perhaps I should try erasing all the data off my machine and/or the card.

Re: ResScan 3.4 Data

Hm. Well, I know that after you choose a date, you go to Detailed Graphs, and it has that little button to load the data for that one date. Yesterday and the day before yesterday, I went to my VPAP, and inserted the card. It said copy complete, and then I inserted it into my card reader. I did a "Al...

Re: Behavioral therapy for sleep problems

Yes, I have major problems, many of which I wouldn't have if I were getting good sleep. My sleep doctor is the one who says I should go to the therapist so that I can break the bad patterns and have good sleep hygiene. In addition to using my BiPAP. I think that I need to get my allergies treated an...

Re: ResScan 3.4 Data

Oh, yes I know that part. I mean, when I put the card into my VPAP and then the card reader, it seems to only have 1 detailed session available to download!

Behavioral therapy for sleep problems

Should I keep an open mind and be willing to try this therapy from a psychologist who is C.B.S.M.? (Certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine) I just think that I am biologically wired to have different sleep patterns, where I'll have major insomnia on week 1, then sleep excessively on week 2, etc. (Th...
