Re: First on CPAP was not good, any suggestions?
Watch your overall sleep hygiene. If you're not feeling like sleep, don't put on the CPAP, and don't be in the bed. I, myself, am a believer in sleep debt. And you might be feeling weird because your body is not used to having sleep that doesn't involve strangulation. It can take some time, but pati...

Re: Looking at new machines: Things more balanced now?
Yikes. Contradicting advice! I like a looong hose (since the divorce I have free reign of the bed). A heated hose sounds nice, but if it doesn't come in xl long lengths (yes I check my pressure with a manometer) it is a non issue. From two posts it kind of sounds like the Resmed machine has more var...

Looking at new machines: Things more balanced now?
It's been awhile. I am looking to replace my M series Pro. When I started on CPAP the Respironics M series was widely accepted as the standard. Now it looks like (the now) PR and Resmed flagships are head to head. I don't care about brands. But, I have main criteria I am hoping you guys can weigh in...

1.5 months on CPAP and bad anxiety
It's been about 1.5 months on CPAP now, at 10cm/H20. The first two, two and a half weeks I was very, very tired. Then things started to go better. Then right about when I hit the 1 month mark, I had bad anxiety set in all of a sudden. I am on treatment for GAD, 10mg Lexapro and 2 mg Klonopin, and ha...

I use a Quattro and have some minor leakage at the elbow joint. The leak is small enough that you don't notice it if you don't put your finger right up to the leak area. I've just left it as is, figured they chalk up the minor leaking as part of the vent rate. My leak/vent rate is spot on according ...

Running machine to blow out tube... compliance check:
Question for the ppl that know (someone always does ) Will running my machine (Remstar M-Series Pro CPAP) for up to 30-40 mins alter my "compliance check" in a negative way? I run it to dry out the tube after washing and tend to walk away, sometimes forgetting. I think I read that the machine only r...

Respironics "Fine" Disposable Filters: Worth it?
Quick question: How many ppl using Remstar M-Series machines use the disposable white filters as well as the grey filters?
For those who do use the white filters, do you find they make the machine run harder? Help during allergy season? Etc.
Thanks mateys

Yeah, the chart seems to indicate that should be virtually zero leakage. There is a notation that says there is some variance due to manufacturing tolerances. I am very happy with the numbers. 1.7 AHI is like wooooo! when you're initial sleep study (where you slept light and for only 3 hours) showed...

Thanks, just googled the clinical menu and had a look, the 7-day average AHI is 1.7, which I gather is not bad. Said mask leak rate was 36 L/min (?), is that high? And does the machine account for the type of mask you're using when computing that, because a full face that vents as much as the Quattr...

I titrated on the mask I am using, a Mirage Quattro. It was apparent immediately to me that nasal masks of any kind were off the table, I am a mouth breather, and the nasal masks instigated a gag reflex when mouth breathing. I guess since I've never experienced anything else, I am o.k. with the Quat...

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the outpour of help and advice from ppl who are going through and have been through all of this. I didn't realize it could take up to a few months until I was fully acclimated to the machine and sleep debt paid off. Good to know. As urged from the beginning, I wi...

New to CPAP, 2 questions:
Tonight makes exactly one week on CPAP. I am using a Respironics Remstar Pro M-Series, with a Resmed Mirage Quattro mask, pressure at 10 cm/H2O. 1rst question is probably simple: Why are there vents at the nose bridge area on this mask? That would seem to lower the pressure the machine is delivering...
