well...

Not EVERYTHING is attributable to OSA! I've been diagnosed PTSD since 2000 - long before I got heavy enough to develop OSA. I've been on meds the whole time and they do help. Sure, the drugs are overprescribed, but for some of us they are a necessary and helpful therapy. Suggesting to a new poster, ...

yep

When i first started on anti-depressants in 2000, I got those jolts for about 6 weeks. Mine were accompanied by a sudden recollection of some memory. They are a normal part of adjusting to the meds, but if they get too intense or troublesome don't be afraid to go back to talk doc and talk about adju...

he can stay in the bed, but I'll take the mask off and snore at him all night. That's torture enough. LOL

ironing board clips?

Hey sleepydoll - thanks for the idea. Only, I haven't iron in forever (heck I don't think I own an iron, much less a board). Do you mean those garter belt looking straps that are sometimes sold to hold sheets on mattresses?

no headboard...now what??

I have no headboard on my bed and have been trying to get this dang hose to stay put at night. What I have rigged is tolerable, but not comfortable. I basically have a loop of elastic band that I've fixed to the wall with a push pin. Every couple of nights I pull the whole thing out of the wall just...

ramping and kudos

Kudos to you Jeff for taking such good care of your GF! I don't like the long ramping either... I too feel 'airless'. So I just do a 5 minute ramp or go on full blast right off. Interestingly, this morning I woke up round 8 and rook the mask off (intending to get up -- right before I fell back to sl...

amazing... so there must be a connection...

Reading everyone's dreams made me think back... before I was diagnosed I had drowning, falling so fast I couldn't catch my breath, and muscular weakness in my dreams regularly. They all started after I had my tonsils and adenoids out when i was 15. They were nightly occurrences, but they don't happe...

had the same issue...

but instead of switching masks, I found that adjusting my pressure worked. I also use the nasal pillows: I had been drooling, mouth open... tried chin strap & taping, but that was uncomfortable. I decided to adjust my pressure (a little higher) and that stopped all the 'open mouth' problems. With th...

weird apnea nightmare?!?

has anyone experienced this? I passed out on the couch last night and my BF didn't have the heart to wake me up to move to the bed. So, I spent my first full night without the CPAP. I had a dream that I was being choked - hard - to the point where I was started to lose consciousness. Just before I b...

Thanks Lee Lee... I appreciate your words...

Now, I'm going to rain on your parade just a little bit. Don't take it wrong. Definitely not taking the wrong way! I appreciate your concern... and the reality check. Last night was pretty good - woke up once, ripped off the mask and fell asleep. But then, as I was falling back to sleep, I heard my...

OMG I made it through a whole night!!

I still can't believe it! Since I started CPAP therapy 12 days ago, I got my first full night of sleep. I made it the whole night!! Hooray!! It feels like Christmas! I slept like a rock, and I have had more energy today than I have in years! And my boyfriend got to sleep well too since I wasn't snor...

put in an interior finishing flap...

...sort of like facing, but it would just hang in between the velcro and the filling, thus keeping the filling out of the velcro.

Know what I mean?

you could also try...

.... an athletic mouth guard - it should fill up the space your dentures usually occupy. I've seen these at walgreens and such - just be sure to get the pharmacist help you pick the size.

have you checked out the Chillow?

I found that a fan kept the kitties away - they don't like the breeze. So I got a chillow on a whim... it's a pillow with a chill mat in it. it works great and now have to fight the boyfriend for it on hot nights!
