Buy a hose cover. That should help with the rainout (aka water in the tube)

Try to hang in there. May of us have been though this and will try to help.
Yes! I love my snuggle hose. This simple change eliminated my rainout, even at the highest settings on the humidifier.

Re: How do YOU dry the hose?

I wash the hose monthly or so in hot soapy water (less if I'm feeling lazy), swing it around to get all the big drops out, then hang it over a door for the rest of the day to dry. Never had a problem with it. If you wash it in the AM, it will be dry by bedtime.

Re: Mold buildup in hose?

I have used tap water in my HH tank for years with no problems. Bottled water when travelling. I clean my tank and hose monthly with baby shampoo and hang it over the door knob to dry. Whenever I get a new mask - 6-9 months for me - I do the full vinegar disinfect routine on the tank and hose. I thi...

Re: New and my Sleep Dr (or his staff) is gonna hate me :)

make sure you get a script in hand before you leave some docs will have their own in house DME - most won't - did he run / own the sleep lab too? This is the part of this whole game I hate the most: The way some of the sleep docs and DMEs work the insurance system like the pros they are. Without de...

Re: I am new to CPAP and having trouble

I was never able to get a nasal pillow interface to work for me. My suggestion is to start with a more traditional nasal mask like a HC407, Zest, or Resp. ComfortGel. When you reach the point where you can make it through the night with those, then you can start experimenting with other interfaces. ...

Re: TV in Bedroom Poll

I used to be a cable guy, and TV in the bedroom is very common. About 70%, I'd say.

Personally, I don't have one. The bedroom is for sleeping and adult activities. Sometimes a little reading before sleep but that's about it.

Re: Remstar Life Expectancy...my experience

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to give them a call in the morning and see what they have to say. Not holding my breath though, lol.

Take care,

Re: CPAP and dry eyes

I believe that there is a slight chance that you can 'leak' from your CPAP machine, through your tear ducts drain, to your eyes. This is one reason why the extremely freakish total face masks exist. http://totalfacemask.respironics.com/

I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Best,

-Cam.

Re: Remstar Life Expectancy...my experience

Ahh, this is not good news. My machine suddenly started whining this morning. Sounds like dry bearings to me. I'm trying to find my receipt but I'm pretty sure I'm well out of warranty. Is it worth calling Respironics? The DME that this unit came from is a crook and I'm not expecting much from him. ...

Getting a snugglehose cover and putting my machine down much lower than the bed completely stopped all of my rainout issues.

Congrats! I think I've been apnic my entire adult life. People always told me I snored, even back in high school. I didn't get diagnosed until I was well out of college and I'm amazed that I made it through at all. I distinctly remember being so frustrated in lectures because I kept falling asleep, ...

Of course, they can charge a reasonable fee - that's the same here in Canuckistan. Most of the time, it's the getting them to make the copies that is the challenge. "You don't need to see that" "We sent everything to your doctor" and the one I hate the most: "You wouldn't understand it anyway" etc, ...

..., in the medical world, $20.17 is an aspirin... Only in the US. Medicine-for-profit is what is going to cause the eventual downfall of the american empire, I'm sure of it. Politics aside, I always dempand copies of *everything* following any kind of testing. Doctor's notes, nurse's notes, everyt...

Respironics gear has "MEDICAL EQUIPMENT" stamped in the plastic right on the bottom of the unit. I too use a hard pelicase, but have found that it doesn't fit in all overhead storage bins. Saving my pennies for an M-series. I think that will make life a lot easier. I travel very frequently, maybe tw...
