Re: Quickl Question

I recently watched an episode of Dr.Oz; he was interviewing a sleep disorder specialist. He found a correlation between hours of sleep and diet; meaning lacking in a certain nutrient. You are a type - 1 and I included the link below. You will have to find the portion of the video's the pertain to; b...

Re: Need help finding better sleep patter: clogged nostrils

A hybrid is a good option for you...it is less irritating than full face and still allows the option to mouth breath. I also suggest you invest in a heppa-type air filter for your bedroom. Also to start a type of journal to find out what is causing the nasal passages to swell. Look for foods, pillow...

Re: non-PAP-related clicking disturbing my sleep

There is a tool available that mechanics use to track down sounds in engines. It is called a "mechanic stethoscope" and I see one at harbor freight for 3 bucks. They use it to locate sounds with a probe. Perhaps this tool will help you locate the source of the sound as it is happening.

Short term-yes. Oxygen levwels in the 30.40, 50 ( that i have seen) can cause the heart to stop ot loose the rhythm. Re: AARGH! I have to do ANOTHER study?

When I perform a PSG that includes the cpap treatment, our policy states the need for 3 hours of time to properly adjust the pressure. When you go back for an entire nite for a titration PSG, you will be getting 7-8 hours of time to find the the proper mode for you (cpap, bipap or asv). I will also ...

Re: AHI Too Low For Treatment -- Where To?

I suggest you get with your ordering doctor, be honest with them and see if he will write you a script for a machine...you can usually find a DME that will rent one to you for a month. See how you do. I suggest some nasal pillow mask due to your low AHI. Another alternative is to find what I use. a ...

Re: CPAP Trouble: Take one-bajillion

This is why a clinical titration is useful... we "see" what is going on while the pressure is being adjusted to your breathing and sleeping patterns. We "see" how your heart, oxygen, arousals, brain waves, depth of breath, volume of breath and overall sleep quality are. I recently watched a Dr.OZ sh...

Re: Going for a sleep study this week

AT our facility, a pre-sleep conference is encouraged. If this is so with your's you can ask about bringing things that will help you sleep. We allow pillows, blankets, fans...even plush toys ( I know weird). Sometimes the person needs some support; so we allow someone to come for the hook-up. The p...

Re: I Left My Sleep Study -- Undone.

The lab may have had protocols and policies to in place to place you on cpap first then try other devices and/or intervinetions befor going to bi-pap or asv. Your insurance may also have to be involved, being that asv machines are considerably more expensive. At our facility, the medical director ha...

Re: Sudden onset hypopnea?

1. I agree it was most likely not a sudden change. On the second psg, you may have slept deeper and sothe hypopneas were seen. 2. Yes, it is best to be seen sleeping on your back because it is obviously the worst position. I ask my patients to do this when I do not see enough apnea/hypopneas on the ...

I understand that sleep deprivation can get you down. OSA is a treatable sleep disorder. Healthy living also include being involved in the community via working, volunteering advocacy or some involvement. Do you really want to declare a life of poverty to get some small check.

i looked the hypop requiremtents and the desat is still associated with the event. I see an arousal can be, but our MD wants the desat as a better requirement. The RERA is associated with the arousals.
