AutoPAP or CFlex?
Does anyone know which of these is better? Or is their any real difference? I am thinking that something that adjusts may work better for me. Any advice?

Thanks for the info
You know, Ted, that may be my problem. The irony is that I can't get enough breath to exercise to reduce my weight! (I have severe asthma too).
Maybe the high pressure is a problem. I will check with my DME and RT to see if I still have time to exchange my VPAP.

Shallow breathing on CPAP
When I am on my machine (pressure of 18) I wake up in the middle of the night to find that when I inhale it is very shallow...the exhalation is fine. It seems to be the shallow breathing that wakes me up. Does anyone else experience this? I have also noticed that sometimes when I am falling asleep w...

Bipap problems
Thanks for the responses. I had my sleep study done at the Greater Washington Sleep Disorders Center. I haven't actually seen the results...my pulmonologist is the one who saw them. She has just recently switched me from a cpap at a pressure of 20 to a bipap because I couldn't handle the cpap. I thi...

BiPAP pumping air down my stomach
I am on a bipap (18 over 5) and in the first few days of using it, I am still experiencing air being pumped into my stomach, as well as cessation in breathing.
Any ideas about what might be the problem?

Call the doctor
I had the same problem with my DME. The doctor had called in a prescription for a CPAP (or in two other situations, a cpap pressure change and a bipap) and the DME never bothered to get in touch with me. I called my doctor and explained that the DME hadn't called me, and she lit a fire under them. I...

One more suggestion
Thanks for the chance to provide input. I love this forum. I too voted for the encyclopedia. It seems that most people have questions about the basics (as did I). I am not sure if it was mentioned but I think a user rating of each machine, mask, etc. would be helpful. It allows cpap'ers to see which...

Recommendations for a good, well-priced bipap?
I am interested in buying a bipap (paying out of pocket). Any recommendations for a good, quiet bipap that is affordable would be appreciated.

Remstar Auto w/ CFlex - same as bipap for exhalation?
I'm considering getting the Remstar Auto w/ CFlex b/c I am on a regular CPAP now with a pressure of 20 and it is choking me. I am wondering if anyone knows if the CFlex feature is as effective as a bilevel on exhalation. I'll have to pay for this machine myself (insurance company is resisting a bipa...

First few nights and feeling choked
I just did my first few nights with my CPAP. I am on a pressure of 20 (I know!) which ramps up from 4cm in 45 minutes. I am good until the pressure gets to the high level, then I feel as if I am being choked. The air is being forced down my throat and into my stomach. I end up taking the mask off wh...

Questions from a Newbie
Hi all, First, I feel lucky to have found this forum. It has already answered so many questions for me. I just had my titration done, and my level is 20. I was wondering the benefits of nasal pillows v. masks. It seems that if leakage is an issue the nasal pillows wouldn't be as effective. Also, can...

New to CPAP
I'm a 40 year old woman just diagnosed with sleep apnea. My titration was determined to be 20! Any tips, advice, etc. anyone would like to share would be greatly appreciated. A friend told me that he heard about a new device on the Paul Harvey radio show. Does anyone have any idea of what this is?? ...
