Re: Low ahi still waking regularly

Awakening with headaches means low oxygen and high CO2.

Sounds like you are Desaturating despite CPAP.

Talk to your Sleep Doc.

Re: Switching CPAP to APAP --> Massive chest pain and GERD

Figured most of it out. Apparently, when there is an Apnea Event, there is negative pressure created. This negative pressure draws stomach acid and pepsin up into the esophagus, trachea, pharynx (throat) and even the ear and nose. The condition can be part of SILENT REFLUX. I have found out more by ...

Re: Great AHI but low Oxygen - Help!

This is a really old thread, but I just wanted to comment that there is a new trend to assess severely obese people for Adult ADHD. Adult ADHD Assessment is being done at some bariatric clinics. Please Google "Adult ADHD + Obesity" for more scientific articles on the topic. If the OSA is at the poin...

Re: Flossing my teeth suddenly painful.

I don't know your age but I started getting dental pain in my 40s. It has improved with bioidentical HRT. I take DHEA in particular. It has also put my Fibromyalgia into remission as long as I take my 5mg daily. HTH. NB Are your gums red or bleeding? If so, it can be helpful to take a multivitamin. ...

Re: OSA range of symptoms

Many of the above symptoms can be attributed to untreated OSA. Keep in mind that long term untreated OSA can cause "Inflammation" in the body, trigger physical and emotional and cognitive misery and and generally make us feel old and awful. High CO2 and Low O2 can explain some of the heart and brain...

Re: Switching CPAP to APAP --> Massive chest pain and GERD

Thanks Holden, I've had Upper Endoscopy for the GERD. It was Silent Reflux. People get CP (chest pain) but taste no Reflux. Put on Rabeprazole and it worked to stop the CP for about 2 years. No, the CP and tachycardia are not related. The HR can slow down but the CP remains. I believe it is the Sile...

Re: Switching CPAP to APAP --> Massive chest pain and GERD

I will try upping my APAP setting to 9.6-12.0.

I will also look into that software.

Yesterday I ordered a foam wedge pillow for GERD and OSA from Amazon.ca

Thanks for the replies and suggestions!

Re: Switching CPAP to APAP --> Massive chest pain and GERD

I've already had several cardiac workups. Doppler, Enzymes, Stress Test (treadmill), etc. The GERD flared with reducing the XPAP pressure from 9.6 down to 5.0. It is know that GERD and OSA can co-occur. GERD is known to cause heart problems. It can even trigger AFib. My GP doesn't think I have *prim...

AHI isn't everything. You can be below 1.0 and still sleep poorly, IME.

Re: what does a sleep study cost

I was told that a sleep test at my local hospital here in Toronto is roughly $800-1000. Covered 100% by our universal healthcare system. We pay for healthcare from our sales tax and income tax.

Re: I wake up too much

If you are getting up to pee, then this means your CO2 is rising. Kidney output is affected by high CO2 which stimulates Atrial Naturietic Hormone. Sounds like you may be desaturating and having hypercapnea High CO2? Could you be a CO2 retainer? Could you be a female with REM SDB issues? Don't know ...

Switching CPAP to APAP --> Massive chest pain and GERD

Switching CPAP to APAP --> Massive chest pain and GERD ------- Still waking up in the night randomly (AHI is under 1.0, so I am suspecting this is Desaturations happening during REM?) Still waking up with heart racing ----- re: Resmed S9 CPAP machine My initial CPAP Pressure was set at 8.0, but I wa...
