Your using auto bipap so the machine will change sounds as it changes pressure. That why the noise goes away when you turn it off and turn it back on. It resets back to baseline pressures. If the machine is equiped with biflex there will also be some extra noise involved. I guess an explanation of h...

your onto something
I like the dilbert principle as well. Take the person who is most likely to foul up the day to day operation of (enter despised corporation here). In order to make sure this dosent happen place that person out of the loop. This position is called management. For those of us who know what should be d...

Any titration that is done with a dme will require a dr order. many dmes will do home auto titration with a dr order for free in the hopes of getting new business. Its my understanding that a diagnostic study has already been performed in this case. As long as that sleep study exists stating that os...

autp pap
Generally speaking when I do a titration on a new pap user my settings are 5cm to 20 cm h20. It is very difficult to just look at a person and judge how much pressure is enough. I have had to use much pressure on small people and very little pressure on some very large people. Have you though of usi...

I work in an dme.... thats fraud, but typically the type of fraud that goes unnoticed or un-complained about. They are only supposed to send what you ask for. If they cannot get a replacement part and have to send a whole new mask they are supposed to notify you and get permission before they send t...

Therapist set up vs non professional set up
I would love to hear storys about initial cpap/bipap set ups. Recent changes in insurance coverage , mostly medicare changes, have initiated drastic changes in how the dme's set up equipment. Several companies now use delivery drivers to set up cpaps and the only access to rt's is through cpap clini...

I am an rt and work in a dme and the other poster are right. My industry if rife with corruption. Here is the low down small local dme dont buy cpaps by the palet so they have pricing issues but they often give better customer service..not always but often. Large dms ( apria lincare rotech) get bett...

In some cases it is beneficial to move the bottom pressure closer to the average. Apap's constantly challeng the air way i.e. you star at 5 and the machine adds pressure each time an apnea or hypopnea happens till they stop happening. For you, it would seem your airway is controled somewhere around ...

As a respitory therapist currently working in sleep medicine I would try to get a auto with data recordability. I have had much luck using respironics autom which is capable of cpap and apap modes. The report this machine is capable of producing can be very helpful. Having a versatile machine can im...
